One of my friends just moved down to the area, and we are going to look at that bike today. low mileage thats cool, he has ridden dirt bikes for I don't know how long, but he taught me to ride. So its time he gets a gs :D
Thats a nice GS but I wouldnt pay $2600 for it. I would offer $2000 and no more than $2200 :thumb:
If you throw 2200 cash at him and hes smart, hell take it :thumb:
exactly 2200, if he buy's it, im going to ride it home because the friend isn't licensed, in return I want to see the kind of helmets hes going to get.
+1 on offering $2200....

Offer $2k and let him talk you up to $2.2k. That way, he'll feel like you're doing him a favor :)

Helmets are approximately worthless unless in _pristine_ condition. Otherwise, you don't know where they've been :icon_rolleyes:

good point, i am a noob
That's alright, atleast you accept our advice instead of ignoring it because it's not what you thought/wanted to hear :thumb: :thumb:

And he replied to MY post that he's a n00b, where in fact I'm more noobalicious than him by a factor of 3 (based on # of posts!). A man who's truly secure :)

alright... kind of long
so We go to look at the bike (my friend and I). The guy has the bike running when we get there it started right away... looked brand new. I took it out for a test ride; it was quick, fast everything was great. we paid him the 2200 in cash after he told me that he had someone to buy it later that day at 2400 and I told him too bad.
as I get on the highway right after we bought it something seemed different, wrong in fact. I was heading up hill (on the 163 for anyone reading this from san diego) and the bike shut off. So my friend who bought the bike pulls over in his car about 7 or 800 feet ahead of me and comes running down, asks whats wrong and looks really pissed. Just gave someone 2200 dollars cash and now the bike is dead. Pushed it to a gas station put more gas in it, started up still running bad, almost on 1 cylinder but not quite. barely made it to his house and I started the diagnostics.
pulled spark plugs they were black. pulled them from my bike and started the bike, it ran a bit better,
went to the store bought oil, carb cleaner new oil filter and new spark plugs. changed the oil, (it had way to much oil in it) and spark plugs cleaned the carbs runs great now
i had to clean the carbs on my bike just because it was so nice.

Check the jetting, float level, and if some &%$#@* didn't try to drill out the pilot jets leaving a gaping hole instead of a jet (as happened to my bike!).

bought a 2000 that looks just like that with 6900 miles for $1800 w/ progressive forks, gel seat, and engine guards

it doesnt seem like the carbs have been touched. after cleaning them out the bike ran great. it does idle at about 4000 now that we cleaned the carbs out. but I believe thats just an adjustment
Yah, just an adjustment or maybe a leak in the airbox seal (it's pretty easy to get that mis-aligned).
We should go for a GS ride in SD now that there are 4-5 of us with 'em. Kee is bringing his '96 over to Buymoto (where I work, along with a friend who is looking at Kee's bike) today around 5 or so. You should come by with your friend if you've got time...
