I hate long drives ( my Sirius helps a little) but it really can't be too bad knowing that you're going to get a new bike  :thumb:

Congrats and post some "before" pics when you get home :icon_mrgreen:

Have you used PB Blaster on the stuck header bolt?  Spray some on that bad boy about every eight hours for a day or two.  Heat it up once or twice; it should come loose.

looks good! As for lights, the hella driving lights I got on ebay would look pretty badass on that bike!

Also, looks like your K&N got smushed a little bit, might wanna replace that..

Oh, get rid of those ugly rearsets.. send em to me, and I'll send you my GS rearsets to replace em.. everyone knows GS rearsets are MUCH sexier!

that thing'd look good with the cheapo Buell duals acually ... but one of the local Streetfighterz showed me his Acerbis (the other one i ws considering before i got the Buelss) and it attached with freaking cable ties  :o The light looked cool (i think it was Acerbis' "Diamond") , but you'd probably want to mount it with something more substantial . He ended up following me back to the house to get some of my 3' cable ties we use for flex duct (they're a whole lot heavier ... same thing the cops used to use before they got their own special ones)
I've got a line on a 02 or 03 Gix 750 i'm working on now ... the dude just bought a house and wants to update the A/C ... if i can trade , the Gix will end up costing me a day in labor and about $1200  :thumb:

Oh , and if you DO go for the Acerbis lights , make sure you have a regular light first for inspection ... the only Acerbis we found that we DOT certified had a weird fairing and a rectangular light  :icon_rolleyes: Maybe if your GS bucket survived you could rig that up first ?

:o :o  Looks like his seats are set-up like I want mine.  I'm pretty sure I'm either going with a round GS/SV or duals :thumb:  I f%$king pandy'd the poor thing.........my jackstands weren't as secure as I believed they were.  I went to wrenching on the rear wheel in anticipation of removing the swingarm and over she went
Absolutely no damage thank god. :thumb:   It did however leak all of it's oil out because I'm a genius and yanked off the oil cooler :icon_confused:  I picked her up and got her steady, laid out some litter to pick up all the oil and called it a day :icon_rolleyes:

terry while you're out working on your new project, would you glance at the rear wheel and see if it's a 5.5?Please.I have an 88 swing arm I'm fitting to a 90 GS,I know a 5.5 will work.If i can find a 6.0 swept or streight spoke wheel,i'm going to try it.I just don't know what the original wheel size is.I'm also looking for an axle, adjusters, spacers, brake hanger, and 520 sprocket. Thanks Terry.

I almost had a friend go buy this the day you posted it....

A friend has most of a suz body kit for that
I think i have a weird solo tail that will fit

the rearsets are RAASK....keep them
the yosh covers are vintage race parts....all zukis had to have them for racing

heat will be your friend on the ex bolt
heat the head slowly allen wrench and a vise grip on the bolt head together

did you already strip the slot on the pilot?.....big tweaker screwdriver and LOTS of PRESSURE!!!!!!
or grind the sides off of a big screwdriver til it fits in the hole.....

the pilots not stripped but it's not intact either    Overall, once I get it going, it's gonna be a hell of a bike.  I'm still wondering about the logic in changing the carbs from flatsides to vacuum based :icon_confused:

I'm gonna buy a cheap ass torch when I get back from MS and get that stupid exhaust bolt

Not super worried about the pilot.......it's just aggravating :icon_rolleyes:  I'll get it, eventually.....

The carbs are freakin me out.  Holes in the slide are plugged, on each carb, one of the holes at the mouth facing the air filter is plugged............... :dunno_white:

On the Pilot take a Screwdriver that Fits the Slot Snuggly.Stick it Firmly in the Slot and Tap the end of the Driver Firmly with a Hammer to Shock it a Bit.Heat the Carb body with a Torch and Fill the Hole with Oil Several times. Each time it Cools Shock it with the Screwdriver and Hammer. If you do strip the Slot out buy some different Size Drill bits and Keep drilling until all you have left is Threads.Pick the threads out Carefully.

Oh yeah you may want to Invest in a Can of Berrymans Chem Dip.It Stinks but it's the shaZam! when Cleaning Carbs. :thumb: If you find that too Expensive you can try Vinegar.Or Antifreeze in a Crock pot.

With the Berrymans you'll have to make sure you remove all of the Rubber and Plastic Parts. With Vinegar you'll have to remove all of the Steel Parts. :thumb:I haven't tried Antifreeze yet but Heard that it worked.

Come on Where's your Sense of Adventure. Reallly sometimes you have to use your Imagination when Working on Vintage Bikes.Usually the Parts Aren't out there.I had a Stuck Pilot Jet in a set of VM34 Mikunis Specifically made for a 68 T500 Cobra.Using the Heat,Oil,Shock Method I saved one.The Other one had a Stuck Float Pin.I snapped off one of the Towers making that set go from worth Over $300 to More or Less Scrap Price. It took a few Years but I was Able to find another set but the Slides are Stuck.

Meh.......my uncle is bringing some tools and a torch.......I'm bringing my carbs.........this damn pilot jet is coming out if someone has to go to the hospital because of it :o   seriously.

Any real benefit of going back to stock flatside carbs from these????????

ya know....
I'd check to see what diam carbs on on the 750 and compare them diam wise to newer kat 600/750
the spacing is the same since it is an evolution of the same engine.

they are prob 32-34 mm range....therefore a modern kat 600 might slap right on there
if bigger you might need the intake boots....and a mild port job to get rid of a ridge.
