Not really Planning on buying one but it kinda Fell on me when I went to the Cycle Shop today. Not Literally Fell on me and a You Break it you buy it sort of deal but it Kinda Sprang up and I can't pass it up.
Here is the Story I wrote on the Suzuki Board. :thumb:
Ever Have one of those Days....................
When it seems.....Uh.....Well.I took a trip to town today to get a Can of Red Sandable Primer to Well....I'll tell that Story in the For Sale Section afterwhile. As you all Know Jeff Dropped off my 71 T500 on His way to Deals Gap.Moo Sent my Spare Cylinders Back and I decided to work on it today while it was Raining.I ordered Everything I thought I needed to get the Top end back on and Get it at least running.Well I remembered that I Forgot to Order Wrist Pin Bearings. So onto the Suzuki Shop to Drool all over that New 2003 Left over SV1000 setting in the Show Room. :) I walk up to the Counter and the Mouth Breather that was working Behind the Counter Asked me what a Wrist Pin Bearing Was.Then he Aksed if there Were any Other Letters that go with that T in T500. I said Yes Yes there is GT500 and if you can't find the Card for a GT500 look for one with GT750 on it. He then said Are you sure it's not a GS500? No it's Pre GS500 by 20 Some Years.I told Him to try the Green Microfiche Cards that it would Probably be there.
OK He still Couldn't Find it so He Asked the Owner where the 68 Model Microfiche Were. He Took Her the Microfiche and She Sorted it out for Him.About that time she Said I bet you might like to Buy that Bike I took in Last year on a Trade. :o Well the Mouth Breather took me out and Sure Nuff there set a Perfectly good uh............. 71 T500. :o Yes in My neck of the Woods.Less than 12 Miles Away.Something that I never would have ever thought I would have found Around Here in a Million Years.Yes I found Rocking Horse Road Apples in the Middle of the Artic Circle right next to the Lost Arc. : :thumb:
It was a Little Dirty doesn't have the Original Paint but is Complete down to the Factory Luggage Rack on the Rear. :o :o The Pipes looked to not have any Rust or Dents Dings or Scrapes. The Seat is Absolutely Perfect without any Tears. The Chrome Trim is Undinged.I looked at the Speedo and it was Only Showing 22000 Original Miles.Oh it Gets Even Better........ Yeap Spare Parts.Spare Pipes,Wheels,Guages,72 Model Gas Tank in Blue,Pink,White,Side Panels ETC.
OK by this time I was Drooling and Shaking.
I asked the Owner How Much and she said just what I have in it........... $700 :o :o
The Owner Rode it to the Cycle Shop to trade it in and it has a Very Clear title
OK I definately Won't be able to Afford to come to the Gap.I'm going tomorrow to take out a Loan at the Bank  It may take me a while Paying them Payments but it will be mine.Oh Yes it will be Mine.

  Well done Juggy :thumb:
Well I still didn't get the Wrist Pin Bearings.Geez they were common in just about every 250cc Two Stroke that Suzuki put out and they didn't have them in stock.Oh well I guess the Two used ones that come with that bike will have to work.
pics, pics, pics!!!!
I Just got back from the Bank from taking the Loan Application. :thumb: I should Hear Something Before 4:30. Still it won't give me enough time to get to the Bike Shop to Pick it up. I will Definately Post Pictures. :thumb: :thumb:
Well Here's what it should look like if I get to repaint it. :thumb:
That is if it's a 71 Model.
It's Possible that it may be a 72 Model that has the Incorrect Badges on the Side Panels. :icon_confused:
in that Case it will look like this one. :thumb:
I wish the Bank would Call.I want to go get my New Baby. :thumb:
Well I got it.It has Some Issues. One Being the Upper Left rear Shock Mount Being Uhhhhh well....... Gone. :( The Previous Owner Tried to Drill into the frame and Thread a Bolt in to Hold the Shock which Didn't Work because they drilled it way way Off Kilter.
The Good news is that I got it less than what the Shop was Wanting. I told them that the Frame was Broke and that I was Walking out unless they took less.So I made an Offer and they Took it.
When I pulled up at my Uncles House I had an Old can of Gas that was Pretty well Stale so I said what the Heck and Dumped it in the Tank.I put Her on Prime and Flipped the Choke on.I figured It would Fire if it was Going to even if the battery was Dead it would run on 1 Cylinder.I turned the Key and Had Lights. I kicked it over 3 times and it Fired and Ran.  Well I unloaded it and took the Loose Shock off of the Back and took her for a Spin.Well a 4 Mile Spin.Sorry I don't Have Pictures I was busy out Riding.
The really Bad news is that it's a 73 Model.
Suppose to look like this Only Blue with a red Pin Stripe and White Center.

Hey Bubba when are you going to get you one of these UFOB Bikes? ;)
Jug.
I would have snapped that up myself without an instants hesitation mate. Over here a good condition original T500 would make about £1.5k.
I am sure you will have lots of fun setting up that TLS front brake and keeping the baffles clean :thumb: get some pics up soon.

The Front Brake is Actually working Pretty good. :thumb: Baffles? No Problem I blew them out running Her as Hard as I could this Evening. I was Acting Like a total Squid this Evening. 2 Beers,No Helmet,No Gear,60MPH all on a Half Flat Tire and 1 Shock. :flipoff: :flipoff: :flipoff: It's Nice to Have Something that'll do 60MPH in 2nd Gear at 4000RPM. :thumb:
Here She is Guys and Gals. :thumb:
Kinda Rough but Has a Lot more Potential than the One I was working on.

That is well nice :thumb: woah , when thats restored , should be a beuty
Thats a brilliant starting point, well done :thumb:
If I can just get that Frame Fixed. I still need to Pop of the Carbs and Clean them.It bogs a Bit taking off.I rode it to the Auto parts Store this Morning to show to the Guy that runs it and it bogged until Around 3 Grand and Almost Came out from Under me.  The Tank Has some really fine Surface rust on the Inside but has some inline filters. They still may be letting a little trash come thru and stop up the Pilots and Float needles.
Still yet It fired off and ran on some really bad stale Gas.Thats a Major Plus.It had been setting since Janurary 8th and the Battery still has what looks like a full Charge. :thumb: It will only fire on 1 Cylinder if the Battery is almost dead.
Its really nice. :thumb: im not into squiddy ness , i mean one day i will own a gsxr 1000 , all day long , my next project will be a Suzuki DR650 , i want to spend about 3000 pounds modifying it , make it my baby girl , my gs is my baby , but its a commuter , just a S*it hot one lol , where as i want a Dr for the weekends , and sunny weather,
keep updated on this lil bad one :thumb: id love to see it complete :thumb:

Unlike the repsol which was made 2 years now the smokin joe was made only 1 year and it is not an RR it's an F3.
If you don't jump on it or it doesn't sell really quickly at that price please get me the contact info for the seller because I know of 3 potential buyers right now in my area.
If I had the 2k right now you could consoder it gone.
Ahh your right. I don't keep up with Brand H that much.I have a CB750 that I wish I hadn't seen.
I'll see if I can track him down theirs no way I can afford it.
was gonna say .. the RR did not come out tell 2003
Now that WOULD keep me happy for a few months over winter.
Can I suggest a method to repair that shock mount? From the pic It looks like an internally threaded boss welded onto the frame. I would be tempted to carefully measure it, then grind it off flush, get a new one made by a shop, clamp it it in the correct position on the frame with a nut, bolt and some large washers, then weld it onto the frame in the correct position. If when you grind it off you are left with a large hole in the frame you could weld a plate to the rear and fill the gaps with weld, then drill through the plate using the bush as a guide and tap thru` the plate .
That sort of damge would put a lot of people off but its not as bad as it looks. It wouldnt take much effort to turn that bike into a minter. All the chromework is their and looks to be reasonable. It looks like the spokes are past their sell by date but you can buy them for next to nothing and replace them one-by-one.
I am as jealous as F***.
this little number screams to be restored. It would be one of few.
Actually that Shock mount runs all of the way thru the Frame member. The Previous owner drilled a Hole and tried to bolt the Shock to the Frame. It's Way off Center and Angled Downward. Really all i have to do is Grind the weld on the front and Back and Pop out the Old mount.I have an Old Frame from my 69 that I modified.I can do the same with it Hopefully and weld it into this frame.I have a 70 Model frame I'm going to look over in just a few Minutes and see if it's Possible. :icon_confused:
OK I took my Sweet time the Other day and took my Dremel to the 69 Frame. The Studs on it was Slightly Boogered but I was Able to save the one I cut out with a 10mm Die to chase the Threads. :thumb:I ran out of Grinding Wheels by the time I got the Weld all ground off on the front and back of the frame. So I finished by using a Small Carbide Bur that I had and Cut Ever so Slightly Around the Outer Diameter of the Stud. With a few Whacks of a Hammer what was Left of the Weld Cracked on both sides Fairly Smoothly. :thumb:
Today After I got some more Cutoff wheels I took the Seat and rear Fender Off so that I could get to what was Left of the Stud.Taking my time I done the Same thing. When I got to the Back of the Frame and started cutting the Old Weld I found the the Idiot who tried to drill really missed the center and Drilled thru the side taking Half of the Sheet metal with it that was Around the Stud. Instead of Striping the frame down Bare and taking the Whole mess to a Welder I done the Best I could with a Mig and Flux Cored Wire.I done this since I have 3+ more of these darn things Torn down rebuilding them. When I finish the 71 I'll tear this one down and have the Stud Rewelded by a Welder with the Proper Equipment. :thumb: The Frame is Super Rusty so it will need Painted or Powder Coated.
Anyway My New Baby Has 2 Shocks Again. :thumb:
i like that style. i say get some low handle bars and make it a cafe racer.
I have one of those taken apart in the barn...in boxes..i think most of the pieces are there..let me know you need some hard to find pieces..

Ohhhhh baby! Me likkkeyyyy. 8)
I had Clip ons and Rear Sets on it but I'm in too bad of Shape to have Ridden it.I have a Bad Back and I Broke my Shifter Foot a Few Years ago.It really needed Surgery Since my Whole Foot Turned Black but Since I didn't have any Insurance I toughed it out until it Healed up.I still walk with a Slight Limp and my Ankle just isn't Flexable enough to shift while in the Fetal Position.
Niiiiiice.
Holy smokes man.
THAT is one fine ride!
Could you shine it up really nice (I mean, you know, it already is) and park it on some lush grass with the setting sun over your shoulder and shoot it ?
I want a BIG .jpg of it if you don't mind.
That machine will make a really cool desktop image.
Pretty please ?

I always wanted to Build a T500 Scrambler and Hope these will work. :dunno_white: If Not I'll cut the welds loose at the Header Pipes and Switch them Around to run them like the J&R's on my Orange one.I'm not sure if I want to run these on my 71 or 73.I think they are Regular Bassani's from the way the Silencers Look. :dunno_white:
