Title: K&N lunchbox
Post by: bucks1605 on July 13, 2007, 05:43:35 PM
I'm having trouble with my air filter. It used to be fine, but lately I've been having trouble getting it to stay on the carbs. I push it on there as far as I can, then I tighten the clamps and as they tighten they slide off the carbs and back towards the filter. Today it fell off while I was riding. Have any of you ever had this problem?

Is it the right model (RU-2970)?  Is the rubber old enough to be hardened and stubborn?

New filter is cheap enough to try a new one if there isn't anything obviously pressing on the filter to push it away from the carbs.

I have the right model, I just bought it last fall. But the rubber was kind of warped on top, so I flipped it upside down and it stays on a lot better. If it keeps falling off I'll call K&N and try to get a new one, because it only has probably 200 miles on it.  Thanks for the help.

K &N has a lifetime warranty on all their air filters. If you call K&N and they don't do any thing, find a local dealer and return it through them.
