Has anyone noticed ... 96 had a lot of changes made most of them for the worse ...
95 has the 6 position gear switch, 96 has 1 position, and I almost think the stepped sproket and the front caliper that went in starting 96 somehow are shittier than the pre 95.
Anyone get into the internals and feel this same thing.
BTW, my friends 96 blew from lack of oil, but suspect it used more than most others, and it certainly used more than my 89 at 9K miles. My very famous 89 which was eating over a qt in 300 miles at 48K miles, was under 1/2 qt in 3k at 10K. So much so, I never had to add oil between 2500 mile changes till 15K.
Cool.

1996 saw a lot of changes in every motor vehicle line...that was when cars started going into the big OBDII switch and when a lot of control components with more bike manufacturers got changed. I haven't really noticed much of anything with brakes, though, but I have certainly noticed a "crappier" standard in electronics starting with late 95 models of...well...everything.
i have no idea ive only ridden my 96. its the only gs ive owned let alone bike. But you gotta love it
Its my only GS , and i was very impressed , of course its majorly upgraded now , so i will let u no., u have to love the charcoal frame tho :thumb:
Yea charcoal frame and even better, charcoal wheels ... yup, love that. But in the late 90's I actually was seeing more 96 and later bikes die from lack of oil or other types of death. Its still happening I guess.

i got rid of those . :( . for a 4.5 rear silver , and the GSX silver, i may have them painted , i dunno , silvers ok :thumb:
While were at it,does anyone have problems with valve tick after their bike sits over night? When I start mine up the valve train rattles like it's getting no oil,but if I rev it to 3000 rpm,It goes away.Should I replace the oil pump?Any ideas. It's an 89 with just under 7000 miles.
