Hello All!
I am a Newby to the world of the Gs-500. I bought my 2001 GS-500 two years ago now and I am slowly figuring out more and more about it! I need help! My bike got laid down and only sustained minor damage but the metal plate on the right side of the engine that says "suzuki" fell off and is scratched up and lost some where! I don't know what this circular plate is called, but I know it covers a small hole in the engine cover. Does anyone know where I can find one? Or does anyone have one? Do I have to buy the whole engine cover/ casing? Or best yet, does anyone have a propper name for it?! Thanks guys!
Cut off a top from a can of beans ... better to use like French cut green beans and not mexican beans ... for obvious reasons :icon_mrgreen: ... glue it on.
Cool.
Srinath.
Or , as i was told in the uk anyways , suzuki should sell them at a dealership , i need a left one , as sum mug took it :(
Yes, you can get that little cover from the Suzuki dealership for about $15. But the bean can lid will work with the right amount of duct tape. :thumb:

BikeBandit.com is another good source.
....and just ignore Srinath.
You could call motorcycle wreckers in the area, but side covers are usually the first thing that gets trashed.
I had the same problem. I cut a piece of daimond plate aluminum and used quick steel to hold it on look at the first pic on this post you can see what it looks like.

Crucial's pics look good, but I just replaced the cover a couple weeks ago. I'd recommend sanding down the scratches then using some enamel paint to cover them up, then sticking the new cover on (it attaches with adhesive built into the back). If you'd like a couple pictures of the process I could put them together, just let me know.
I sanded mine down alittle and then used paint, it came out fine. When I bought my bike both sides of the covers had some minor scratches now everything looks ok.
