What the difference between jets with holes in the side and jets with no holes... like the stock gs jets. Will the one with the holes work with the gs carbs/motor???

Here is a picture of what the Jets looked like with the holes...... The pilot that came out of my bike did not have holes... Mikuni also makes a #40 jet without holes.
