Title: brake fluid on my helmet visor!!
Post by: ssinema on July 23, 2007, 10:43:32 AM
So Im riding to work this morning and I see what appeared to be rain on my visor.  However when I got to work, I noticed that this same substance was on my tank and right side fairing.  A closer inspection revealed that it was brake fluid. I looked at my front resevoir and noticed that the glass was gone!!!  I still have front brakes at the moment, so Ill make it home......I think.......but now I have to replace the resevoir.  Has anyone else experienced this problem with the glass mysteriously falling out?? I know it was there when I did my walk around inspect this morning.  Now it is gone.  Also...does the factory use a JB weld type substance to hold that window in place, or did the guy I bought it from break and then fix it?

I believe they are pressed in during manufacturing.I'm not sure there glass, maybe acrylic. If it fell out and there was glue in there, then I would suspect a cheap repair. If I am wrong, someone please set me right. You could use a gsxr,sv,or bandit master cylinder with a remote mount resevoir. That will eliminate the clear site glass.

I found a 2001-03 GSXR600 master with remote resevoir for $20 on ebay and it'll give a little more breaking power.

Uh.... don't forget that your mirror mount is on the bake perch..  a new brake ass'y without one implies a slight problem....  these guys with the "F" models tend to forget that little detail... ;)

I use a left hand mirror clamp on the right side or bar end mirrors.  :thumb:

Actually, my mirrors mount to my headlight fairing, not the res, or the bars. I guess its an 04+ thing?

That may be a little too much Braking Power Ben.I have one of those on my Dual Disc T500 and it's Almost too much.I'd Hate to see What it would do on a Single Disc. :o
