Title: Has anyone tried these LEDs?
Post by: Y2K6GS500F on July 26, 2007, 05:30:04 AM
I was thinking of getting some LED's to supplement my Brake/Running lights (like Electropods or Hyperlites), and I ran across these:

They are Brake/Running LEDs mounted in a sealed case with a reflector and magnifying lens. They are slightly smaller than a dime, but are rated to a brightness equivallent to 120,000 MCD.    I thought these might be good replacements for my License Plate Bolts -what do you think?  :dunno_white:

Has anyone tried these LEDs? If so, how hard was the wiring? Are they bright?

BTW- These also look pretty good, as they could probably be used as side maeker lights by replacing one of the fairing bolts on the 500F bikes.

I ended up getting 2 red bolt LED's (like the 2nd, smaller photo) to put in my number plate, and wired to come on when the brake is applied.

I have LED tail lights and I don't think the dual intensity of the lights is as bright as I would like during the day when the sun lights shining from behind the bike.

Adding these have made a good improvement. I had my parents follow my bike today and they said it was much more noticeable.

So yep, I can recommend them.

how about a short video clip or pictures of them in action in full daylight/night please ?

i've seen so many led taillights / signals that were useless, it's a shame such good tech loses to a price war. saw a 'bar' of light for a taillight yesterday on a customized shadow that was 5-6 inches wide, and only the thickness of one led tall. it was the brightest and most noticable led setup i've ever seen. sadly, he was gone before i could ask for a name of the device.

Mate LED's don't photograph well except at night where even crap ones look good.

I am using these to supplement my rear LED tail/brake lights braking illumination.

These photos don't do the LED's full justice, but it shows that they are definitely an improvement making brakeing more distinguished from the running light.

The led is less effective from angles.
