I will verify with the previous owner what he did....but here's what I know now...
- He did go through the carbs
- Exhaust is stock
- Air Filter stock
Granted I'm in VA, so the climate is warm now...BUT...even late at night, early in the morning, I crank it with a bit of choke, put my jacket on, helmet on, turn the choke off, and the bike runs great with no lag, or more warming up needed.
I've found the following
- Full Vance and Hines exhaust I can get it for $300 to my door
- K and N 'lunchbox' filter $30 ish shipped
I know I'll need to rejet, but I'm going to contact the previous owner and see what he went with when he was in the carbs, if he differed from stock.
First off...not looking for a monster HP gain..the BIG thing, believe it or not, is that my wife (who will hopefully learn to ride and this will become her bike) said "That bike is really quiet..." LOL
So Anyone with these exact mods can tell me what carb settings have worked for them?
It's a 90 GS500E in question
Thanks in Advance
Chris
im thinkin like 150 mains with a free pipe and lunchbox....BTW you wife won't be commenting about how quiet that little bike is anymore.....

Seconded. I'm using 145 mains, no. 40 pilots, and 2 washers under the needles for a lunchbox and Yoshi can (stock headers). So 150 for an even more freely flowing setup isn't a stretch.
PS- do NOT use foam filter oil on the lunchbox. It'll make your firstborn cry, your cat die, and the bike to run rich and make about 90 miles to a tank. Use the K&N stuff -- personal experience speaks here.
