Title: owner's manual?
Post by: gs500girl on July 29, 2007, 02:35:09 PM
I'm picking up a '96 GS500e tonight and the owner cannot locate the owner's manual.  I've been searching the net, but keep getting maintenance manuals (I already have Clymers)  Anyone know where I can get an owner's manual?  Thanks.

I am suprised that Suzuki does not make them available as a free download, liability thing.
I have never seen them in any online parts listing for purchase.

Factory owner's manuals are useful- mine for the Concours leaves out a lot of stuff though.  Also it is written in Japanglish sometimes.  :cookoo:

I use Haynes for the Shadow, it is all right, but it has mistakes too- you can't remove and replace the starter unless you remove the starter cover plate and gears, the starter doesn't just "slip out".   :icon_rolleyes:

But all are useful, for basic information, like torques and the order of work.

The owners handbook and manual both have part numbers dependent on the year of the bike and the language they are printed in, both are available as "spares" from any Suzuki dealer.

Hi there GS500girl,
I'll be at a vintage Japanese motorcycle show here in central PA in three weeks and can look for one there for you. If it's under $10 plus shipping, you want me to buy it for you and send it to you?
I see owners manuals there a lot.
Let me know,
Yours,
Todd

The part no` of  my service manual is printed on the last page. 99500-34068-01E. (9th Edition in English).
I cant find the owners handbook but the number will be printed in there somewhere.

I don't really know if this forum allows this or not, but here it is: (download link removed)

It is the Haynes Manual to the gs500 up to '97, but I think it can easily be used to every other model after that. ;)

Edited by admin: No, we don't allow illegal download sites on GSTwin. Thank you.
