Title: gas cap gasket
Post by: pherako on August 02, 2007, 10:27:06 PM
hey guys, just rekeyed a spare lock that I had, and realized that the gasket on my cap is total crap. I ganked a 'better' one off of the spare, but i really would like a new one. anyone know where I can get one? dealer only sells assembly...

if you cant find it for sale, make it  :thumb:

i'm sure a boat supply place would have generic sized gas safe gaskets you could make work....

+1 what he said

but going to a 'marine' store means it will cost 4.5 to 7.3 times as much ;)

You have already answered your own question....get it from another cap. Most Suzuki caps are the same.

i was looking for a reasonably cheap solution, dgyver  :) getting another cap is.. costly compared to a gasket... I guess I could weasel something out of rubber.

You might try some Buna-N sheet.  I bet you could cut something out and make it work.  I need to do the same to mine.  Just cut it out with an X-acto knive.

Try to find a used gas cap on ebay, or find someone selling a newer dented or scratched tank, maybe they would sell you just the gasket.
