Title: Found Direct replacement LED brakelight bulbs
Post by: Firefghter355 on August 03, 2007, 11:40:07 AM
Went to Advance Auto looking for Taillight bulbs cause I had a faulty one... I ran into a pack of RED LEDs made by JamStraight. They are a direct replacement of you 1157 that are in your tail/brake light. Very Bright Red LEDS! http://www.jamstraight.com. Now, If I only understood how to intergrate my turns in with them. any one help????? I have read Easyasone23's post using the trailer hitch converter but I could really use some pics...........

Ok, My bad on the website........ I wasted my time on the led bulbs because I decided to intergrate my rear signals and brake light using Easyasone23's trailer light converter....
A success! But it doesnt work with the LED bulbs....... Oh well I did a complete fenderectomy and it looks 10 times better........As soon as I figure out how to post some pics, Ill post 'em

Why doesn't it work with the LED bulbs?  The bulbs are supposed to be a direct factory replacement that draw the same resistance as a standard bulb.  What issue are you having?

Changing the stock relay to a variable load electronic relay should fix it.

Don't forget about the "other" function of the 1157 bulbs in the GS -- illuminating the license plate.  If your replacement LED light does not have white LEDS in the correct position and orientation to light the plate, you may get pulled over and ticketed.

I wired a white LED facing down to illuminate the plate.  Total PITA.  But at least I won't get stopped for THAT.
