Title: Dear god Finally!!!
Post by: spc on August 07, 2007, 09:37:51 AM
Doc said "f%$k it" and signed my release, so I can re-enlist :thumb: :thumb:  My thumb still isn't 100% but it's close enough I can fake it.  Once I re-enlist, i will be coming in to some money  (I'm considering reclassifying as EOD, in which case after the 38 weeks of training i would have in the range of 40k sitting around)  And I'm figuring I'll buy a bike.........Probably a brutale, but I'm also thinking maybe it's time for a cage.      I've been looking at the 1998-2000 Saab's, anyone have any experience with em???  I like the look and they seem to be well engineered and reliable cars with a decent price tag in that year range..........unfortunately they all have 100k-130k miles on em..........If it was a VW I wouldn't give it a second thought..............just don't have any experience with Saab's :dunno_white:

A fool and his money are easily parted.  Just kidding!

You should get a used Z1000 instead of a Brutale and instead of buying a Saab, you should get a used WRX.  My twenty cents.  Don't know how else to answer your question.  If it were me. . . Make a nice down payment on a house!  The Fed (hopefully) will lower interest rates today.

I drove a friends WRX once, it was a pretty nice little car with shaZam!-tons of power :icon_twisted:  In the end, i will probably spend less and not get a Brutale, but they are so damn sexy    With the rest i was planning on either buying property or setting up an investment portfolio..........Even if I get the Brut and a car I'll still have 25k or so left............If I don't get a Brutale, I'll either find a nice used Speed3 or Monster, much cheaper  ;)

HAHAHA........The Brut is a seriously awesome bike.............I'll probably end up impulse buying one when I have the $$$ in hand

The Gix:  Shop got the stuck pilot jet out and ordered a new one, should be here tomorrow.
They're putting a new front tire on the wheel today.  (Metzeler M-1 )
And they're charging my new battery.
Gonna pick all that up tomorrow and start reassembling the carbs/cleaning.   I'm hoping to have her prowling the streets by the weekend :icon_twisted:  I still have to work out my taillight situation :icon_confused: have the housing and lens but not the appropriate 1157 sockets :icon_confused:  And i have to wire up the headlight i bought.......

OK got the shaZam! from the shop this afternoon..........good and bad:
Good: There was a Sport Classic 1000 there for sale :o  And I got to Test Drive it.  The owner followed me on his honda sport-tourer.........and laughed like hell when the wheel came up at every single light   It's got a termi can and been remapped :icon_twisted:  god if I had the $$ (12k)

Bad:  Decided i wouldn't do much tonight as I had to change out my mom's oil/filter  and fuel filter and those damn old diesels can pull tricks on ya if you rush...   Did however drop the battery in.........NADA..........nothing turns on but it's all connected...........  So I'm guessing they either forgot to charge it or my solenoid is busted..........f%$k!!!!

how long are enlistments for now?  i had to do 5 years for my first commission and BBA and 10 years for a masters and then continued to the 20 years mark. i know it was different for enlisted but i have been out for 3 years now and i am sure much has changed

Ehhh......more than likely if you're first time you're gonna do 6 years these days, but re-ups are 4 years for enlistment.............once you complete an undergrad,  you can terminate your contract and re-up into a new JAG program that pays all costs and pays you active duty rate for 1Lt. all the way through law school......and you only owe  4 years active or 6 years reserve........  I'm looking at reclassifying into EOD and that requires a 6yr commitment.....the $$$$ when you MOS qual is pretty damn nice

haha.....funny fact:  One of my best friends went into surgery to repair his knee the day I was released :o :o  He's got bolts coming out of his leg for the external fixator and a good 8 inch incision down the front of his knee :o :o :o  Maybe I'll get pics up tomorrow........I'm tired tonight,  i had to change out my mom's oil and fuel filter...took me  a little longer than expected because the shop she used for it while I had pins put the damn drain plug in with an impact wrench
