The back brakes vibrate when slowing down at low speeds on my GS500 2007. Is this a break-in thing or, is it normal? I only have about 350miles on it.
i have 800 miles on mine and it does not do that at all
make sure all the bolts are tight on the brake set up, also check the wheel alignment but not by the marks on the swing arm they can be in-accurate for some.

How do you check it w/o the lines?
Hmmm... I searched and found some discussion on how to do it w/o the guides...

Any new or other methods anyone care to add? Seems to be the most (GS Related) top controversy besides "Type of oil" and "type of fuel"
i usually do the swing arm marks, the measuring to middle of colt, and the thread count . can't be wrong 3 times can it :dunno_white:
I get a ruler and a straight edge. I align the straight edge against the adjuster plates on the rear of the swing arm, and measure the distance from the middle of the axle, to the straight edge. I tweak both sides until I've got the same distance.
TAKE IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND MAKE THEM MAKE IT RIGHT!!!!
its a brand new bike, you deserve something from those bastards.
i get that mate. i have gs500f 06 and the back brake has actually warped.

I'll agree completely on the first part.
The dealership needs to check the rear:
1) brakes
2) alignment
3) wheel bearings
4) chain
5) tire balance
6) wheels for damage
7) you've already checked the air preasure, right ? (that would really suck to have them charge you a couple hundred bucks to say "Hey your tires were 20 lbs over/under")
That's the short list. I wouldn't accept the motorcycle until they told me what they found, and signed off on the general condition of all other things that COULD be the cause.
If you wad it up with 350 miles because of a failure that's one thing. If you wad it up after the dealer assures you everything is fine, and misses a key component, that's liable.
Have them trailer it, or have it trailered yourself and have them compensate you somehow.
DO NOT RIDE IT TO THE DEALER.
+1 on the dealership
