Title: Dropped bike problems--Update
Post by: ralph13 on August 08, 2007, 05:57:01 PM
I posted about a month back about the difficulties I had when I dropped my GS onto my bicycle in the garage; I'm sure a few remember the issues that were there, namely the shifter not shifting, and the oil light staying on. It has been some weeks since then, and unfortunately my bike has been sitting for the last month idle (I know I shouldn't leave it for so long sitting without running  :icon_confused: --I don't know how time flew so fast)

Anyway, today I tried giving it a go, and everything works perfectly fine. I'm a little wary though, because I wasn't able to do much in the way of repairing it, yet here it is, working great. I took it for a short 1-mile ride, and it was smooth as always. Is there anything I should be concerned about? I'm debating what to do with the old gas left in the tank for the last 4 weeks--Should it be drained and replaced, or will it be alright? Any advice is appreciated.

I would not worry too much. A tip over cannot do much damage. Double check the oil light bulb is still good. If it is shifting smootly then it should be fine.

As for the gas, I would just use it. One month and it cannot be bad. The GS is not that sensitive. Worst case drain it and run it in a lawn mower.

Gas will be fine... I lived in Edmonton for 6 years and my winters lasted 8 months....  my wifes GS would start and run every season without issue......
