Title: Carburetors
Post by: Merkurio24 on August 08, 2007, 11:15:45 PM
Do the carburetors from a '06 gs 500F fit the '94 gs 500E without any problems? :icon_confused:

Yup, with a bonus.  You'll get an improved 3-circuit carb.

The only issue is the 01+ carbs use a dual throttle cable setup.  You could run it with your single cable, without the added safety of forcibly closing the throttle if it doesn't spring back by itself.  (Which is the same situation you're in now.)

The 06 also has a throttle position sensor, which would do nothing for you.  However, I'll bet if you got a signal generator/rotor and ECU from a 04+, it would probably do some kind of variable ignition advance, whatever that's good for.  (Emissions crap or power.  My guess is emissions crap.)

You may need to use the airboots (airbox-to-carb boots) from '01+ models.

Don't have to.  But it would be beneficial to snag the throttle controls from a similar year GS :thumb:

Now, the reason why I asked about the carburetor swap is because I'm having problems with my bike. I have to clean the carburetors every 2 months! :2guns:
since I got the bike. And this has been the  only thing that comes to mind to fix this problem once and for all.

I changed the fuel tank from a regular GSE to a California Model (wich is the one I own) does this has anything to do with my problem?
Problem: bike starts the first time everytime, but as soon as I give it gas it dies  :dunno_white:

Please help!!

Try this http://cgi.stanford.edu/~sanjayd/gs500/Restoration/TankRust

And this to help with fuel starvation http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=36958.0
