How hard/easy is it to replace the fork oil and seals? Also, how much money should it cost it I have a mechanic done and how much if I just buy what I need and do it myself?
Anyone know?
Thanks in advance for your help :)

is US$ in minnesota
a local shop charges $190 if you bring in the whole bike, $80 if you just bring in the forks
for a rough idea!
i was requiring this for my wifes nighthawk, due to the price difference i took off the forks and brought them in. let them do the messy work! it only took about 1/2 hour to get them out.
1. jack the bike up (no brainer)
2. remove tire (no brainer)
3. remove and hang the brake caliper from a coat hanger from the handlbars
4. loosen the bolts and out they slide
the rest of it is just as easy.
if your even a little bit mechanically inclined, have a little bit of time, and don't mind getting a little mit messy, you can save yourself the 80 bucks.
Thanks for the info guys. Is there a "how to" somewhere that I can look up how to change the fork seals? Since I was already going to be working on the forks I thought I might as well get some new springs aswell.
Now, I have heard a few people mention changing to progressive springs but is there a certain type/brand that I should be looking for? I have seen the how to on changing the springs and it seems pretty simple. How much should I spend on springs?
Thanks.
