Hey is anyone in the New York City/ New Jersey area? I'm located in Staten Island, NY.
hello. I am located in NY. queens-maspeth to be exact - it is not far away from Staten Island.
if you are still here (message board) let me know, hopefully we could meet and ride together if not this season maybe next one. I'll be very glad cause so far I've been riding alone and it's kinda boring.
Let me know what you think
cheers

Hey All,
Astoria Queens here!
Not on a GS any more, but will definitely be proud to ride with a few :thumb:
great!! even closer!
I'm kinda tight on a schedule cause of the work and college but I will definetely find some time over the weekends.
if you have any favorite roads let us know. (place where we could go, mileage, maps)
this weekend I can't ride cause I have other plans but next one I'll be free.
let me know what you think.
anyone else in NYC??
cheers
kaMeL
What's up this is my first post. I've been reading the site and riding for a few months now, but definitely still a newbie. I'm in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, kept my bike in Eastern LI all summer, and ready to try riding around here. How're the roads in Queens and Nassau County? I hear there's good riding in Westchester, too - twisty roads. If you're alright with having a beginning rider join, let me know.
- G
so there is two of us.. newbies  I have done 600 miles on the bike so far in one year :) I'm quite busy tho.... work and college...
but I do know that westchester county is NICE!! been there few times but in a cage(car). Didn't have my bike with me unfortunatelly.
williamsburg... that sounds CLOSE :) I go down metropolitan ave for 5-7 minutes and I'm there!
it would be great to meet and ride around. Sunday?? what you think?? if you have nothing else to do just post back here and we can meet.
oh... and Queens is same as brooklyn. to much traffic, too many cagers - overall nothing special - it's NYC so what can we expect :dunno_white:
all right. let me know what you think. I'd like to ride lil' bit more before the summer ends...
KameL
nobody in NY who really wanna ride?? few replies and still nothing?? I have to move to FL or CA much better weather and more GS fans.
I'm in Jersey, about 45 minutes from NYC. I just got my GS on Sunday. Its a 99 with 7000 miles on it, has a muzzy slip on, jet kit, and I'll be doing some stuff to it eventually. I dunno if I'll get insurance for this season, probably for the spring. Definitely going to be looking for people to ride with.
about 4 hours on the NH boarder
Jersey sound good!! and I think SAFER than NYC! way too many crazy cagers here... ;/ just let us know when you have your insurance.
If you cannot do it this season we'll do it next one. I'm into it a lot!!
I have to admit that even though I have my bike second season I'm still NOOB!! I've put 600 miles on a bike in 2 seasons! SHAME ON ME but the reason is I've got nobody to ride with and I'm lil' bit afraid to ride alone - you know in case something happens to the bike... I'm not sure if I could fix it on my own. Besides the fear (of unknown) I'm quite busy - work and college so I only have weekends to ride, if I don't have to study...
NH - it sounds beautifull :) but kinda far away for a noob ;) , but if anyone else join me we could go together and visit you in NH or even better - in a halfway between NY and NH. I've got GPS so directions is not a problem!!
I can't wait to go for a longer ride. My longest one was 50 miles. Whole trip on a highway - it sucks!! Didn't like it. BORING. I want some backroads, twisties to gain some skills and experience.
Dude... I can't wait to feel the pleasure and real joy of motorcycling... ;)
I'll definitely keep everyone posted when I get insurance. I would love to ride with other GS riders.
I'm in Orange County, Goshen NY to be exact. Really nice roads around here. I'm not on a GS anymore but always looking for people to ride with.

all right! I'm taking this as an invitation :thumb: propably I'll not do it this season but the next one, I'd be great + not that far away. 75 miles. Sound like a nice trip.
Sounds good. I haven't been riding much the last week or so either, getting a little cold here.

I was feeling unsure at first because of worries of riding around NYC. CA definitely has better motorcycling conditions and roads, but that doesn't mean we aren't GS fans. I think the east coast is still dope as hell. I sure am tired of riding in NYC - way too many wreckless pedestrians, bicycles, cars, trucks, and buses!

We should get a group of NY/NJ/CT folks together for a ride near you. I've been wanting to ride around Harriman State Park and Peekskill/Yorktown area, because I've heard the roads are real nice. I also think that's somewhere in the middle for all of us.
I've got cold-weather gear so I'm down to get together on a nice weekend this season, if there are any left! Otherwise we should definitely do this in the spring. Keep in mind that I'm a newbie and completely uninterested in stunting. If we all keep the ride easy I think we all can still have a great time. Absolute Rescue - PM me so that we all get out of this posturing phase and we can coordinate something with kml.krk and others to meet near Orange County.
All NY / NJ / CT / PA riders - For anybody interested in meeting in southern NY, southwestern CT, eastern PA, or northern NJ, keep replying to this thread and we'll put something together next season.
- G
very well said!!
I'm definetelly going to join, but NOT this season unless it's around 70 degrees out there. I don't have winter gear (all of my gear is mesh)
I can't wait.... :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:
God if I could I would
Hey Frankie we are going to try to get a ride together one weekend in the spring once the weather breaks, If you are feeling up to it we would love to have you join us. :thumb:
come hell or high water I will come. So who's place may I crash
I should be more settled in my new apartment by then if so you are welcome to crash on the futon in my living room.
Woopop. I'm feeling better already
For all that are interested in riding in Orange County, New York, about an hour north of NYC, we're currently considering Saturday, May 3, 2008 as a meeting date. We'll keep you abreast of plans and possible routes, and if you're interested please reply that way we can keep tabs on how small/big the group ride may be.
-G
Thanks for posting that gaspy. Also if you have any requests as far as the route goes post here so we can try to start working up a route.
I think I will NOT be able to make it on Saturday  - college, other than that sounds great :thumb:
Nothing set in stone yet as far as date, just figured we would throw out a data and gauge response. I'm pretty flexible at this point I have no other plans that far ahead so basically everything can go around this meet. Anyone interested throw out your ideas here willing to take any suggestions (date, route, whatever else you can think of).
I will nbr taking then I 95 to the city
Hey thanks for the notice on this thread.... I live in upstate New York but, I would def be down for a weekend road trip to meet up with some fellow gs owners and riders in general.
Naw... Upstate is where I am. To be UPSTATE you need to be a stones throw from Canada. Not sure how many of us are up here but it would be cool if everyone rode to a somewhat central location and went from there. I'm north of Watertown... about 2 hours north of Syracuse, I'd def be down for it though.
It doesn't get warm up that way till like august right , I might have to make a trip up there this summer sometime. I hear there are some nice roads up there.
naw... we get good weather about the end of July. And yes, there are VERY nice roads around here. There are alot of crappy ones, but some really nice ones too.
Ah all I need is bare pavement and a skidoo suit
Spring is approaching. I went to Cali this past week and rented a bike(harley night train 1560 cc's). Now I really want to ride bad. Weather should start warming up nicely. East coast riders will have to get together
AHhh I can't wait to get back on two wheels. Gotta start getting the 'Rod ready :thumb:
Bought a GS400 this weekend and also rode my GS500. I did some routine maintenance to it as well. I am calling to put insurance on my bike today, and I will do the inspection, registration, etc. on Friday. So I will be road ready this weekend. Looking forward to putting some serious miles on my bike.
Also, since I last posted I did some more stuff to the bike...
'89 clip ons with aluminum bars
sonic constant rate springs
katana rear shock
I will also be doing dual headlights eventually
anyone riding this weekend in new jersey or around? I'm in central NJ(flemington). I'm definitely going to be riding if the weather isn't bad.
Hi all,
Apologies for not updating you sooner. I've been putting in long hours at work and haven't finished my f to e conversion on the GS. Needless to say, the NYC-Goshen May 3rd ride didn't happen, but I'm still game to do it this season. Absolute Rescue and Kamel, I'll let you guys know as soon as I have the project finished, the bike insured and registered, and out here in NY. Currently it's in storage out in Long Island and I'm dying to get on the road again! I don't anticipate being ready until mid-June. I hope it still runs!
Gasp
works for me!. In June I'll be free as a bird (no school)
I'll have plenty of time to ride, on the weekends of course :thumb:
let us know as soon as you have any info. We will get ready!
cheers

Hey guys, I'm new to the forum and I'm hopefully getting a '94 within the next week and a half or so. I'm gonna be out in the Jersey suburbs (New Brunswick) not too far from New York. I've been riding a suzuki savage for almost a year now, but mostly cruising the freeways in LA, so I'm pretty new to sport riding and high-speed twisties (once or twice up the Angeles Crest is about it). I'd still love to come along on some weekend rides, provided you don't leave me in the dust.

no worries about leaving you in the dust!! I'm new either, and I'm not ashamed to admit that :thumb:
joebo.....I am about 25 minutes from New Brunswick...I'm in Flemington. Both me and my brother both ride GS's.. let me know if you want to ride.
Also, I'd love to ride with other GSers so lets make a ride happen!
heyy, does anyone know where i can keep my bike for cheap (whether it be in or out of the city) when i go to Pace University in downtown manhattan in the fall?
I just want to be able to ride when i get the urge.
thanks
So I've finally gotten that stupid title transfer and registration process all done, and I still have almost 2 weeks to get my inspection done. Anybody know of any good rides in the area or a nice lunch spot for a group ride destination?

last year i found a place in south brooklyn that offered monthly spots and storage for motorcycles at around $60. check out craigslist for private garage listings, you might find something cheap. run a google search for parking garages near where you'd like to park and you might get lucky. parking in NYC can be a nightmare. good luck!
