I have lived here for about a year so far.  The only ones I have seen are the ones that my son and his friend went out to look for in the first place. :cookoo:  I have not seen any in my house  :o or my yard yet.

When you get here and get settled, shoot me a pm.  I would enjoy meeting you and going for a ride sometime.

Brent

Scorpions aren't THAT bad around here. I've lived in Phoenix all my life (23 years) and I've seen about 4 scorpions and I live in what USED to be the boondocks until all you people from out of state started moving in. If you move to a community like Mesa or Surprise that's still growing, you might find more snakes/scorpions than usual due to displacement (homes are being built where they usually live) so they're a little more frequent. Nonetheless.... it's not a huge problem IMHO. And if you do move out, I'd love to go riding with you guys as well. Hit me up and we'll check out some twisty rides! I hear 89A is supposed to be great going north.

Just how dangerous are they if they sting you?   What is the medical protocol is someone is bitten?  Should you rush like a maniac to a doctor, or do you have a few hours?

I lived in AZ for 27 years before I joined the Navy. Ive only ever seen scorpions in the zoo. Before my GS, I rolled around in a 96 Jeep Cherokee, and we went EVERYWHERE throughout the desert. When I was a kid we had a snake in out house, but it was a gardener snake, and not a threat. With Scorpions, you really have to worry about the small ones. their poison is more dangerous. While you shouldnt try to hurt anyone else while rushing to the hospital, it is a good idea to visit the hospital or urgent care as soon as possible, just to make sure you dont have an allergic reaction to the sting, and to make sure you dont have any pieces of stinger in you. As was mentioned before, if you move into the developing desert you are more likely to run into critters, but again, having four wheeled all over the state, I never saw one that wasnt dead in a box, or locked away in some cage.

Hope you move there, I miss it.

Wifey wants newish house ... due to lead and what not in paint and asbestos in walls, kiddo is autistic and cant tell if he's been stung, other than possible screaming, which would be like any other day/time, and I've pretty much pulled the plug on phoenix.
Back to job hunting and back to bike crap.
Cool.

Both lead and asbestos can be tested for, BTW.  And don't think that new houses don't have their share of nasty toxic pitfalls.  Formeldehyde in plywood, carpet glue, insulation, etc tops that list.  Anyway, enjoy Phoenix -- my aunt moved there and supposedly parts are beautiful (if you can stand the 110+F heat in summer, which would make ME cry since I don't handle heat well).

-b. (who's looking for a place in NYC and wishes it were as cheap as Phx.)

Diaz,
Heard from Ken ??? now I am begining to worry.
No phoenix, and yes, suzuki thoughtfully put the fuse under the right side panel from behind the battery on the 89.  :thumb:
Yea we should do one of those again, though it may not be the last (or may be).
Cool.

rule of thumb for scorpions- the larger the pincher's the less potent the venom
