Title: Kerry, your magnets work wonderfully
Post by: glenn9171 on August 06, 2003, 12:47:21 PM
I bought a set last month like the ones you showed in that other post.  I put them on the center stand cross-member.  I pulled up to a red light at about 11:00 p.m. when I normally have to wait indefinitely then run the light.  As soon as I drove across the edge of the octogon in the road surface, bam!  The light changed.  Woo Hoo!  Thanks again for the idea.  $3 and the lights work for me now.   :thumb:    8)

You're welcome!

The idea wasn't original with me of course, but I'm glad it's working for you.  You're "visible" again!

I highly suggest everyone should get one of these magnets.. they make life so much more easier for us motorcycles.

I was asked a while back by a R6 rider at school of why is it that the light trips when I pull up behind him and it doesnt when he is just standing there.

Then i gave him teh secret.. i hope he has done that mod and passed it around.

I got a couple of magnets and certain lights still won't change for me.  I think I had to run 3 lights last night.  Weird thing is that there's a light near my place that my GS can't trigger, but my aluminum-framed bicycle will.  huh?

Which magnet are you people refering too? I no longer have a center stand, so where should I mount it?  :P

mount it to the frame rails, one on each side on the bottom of the bike.

i like running lights...imagine being able to use *gasp* judgement when on the road!  It's my own little statement that "your laws are stupid, and I will obey them only when it is prudent!" muahahahahahaha!

What if you use too big of a magnet? Will it disrupt anything in the electrcial system of the bike?

See the old thread Stop lights won't go green!!!.  Scroll most of the way down the first page for pictures of the magnets I used and where I put them.
