I have I quick question, I'm replacing my starter clutch and there is a plastic "washer or spacer" that was broken up inside the clutch when I removed it. I looked on the micro fetch and could not find it does anyone have a clue if it's needed?

I don't remember any plastic washers/spacers on the alternator side and starter clutch mechanism ,maybe you can take a pic of it ?
I'll try but it's in pieces. it looks like it worked as a bearing. On the starter gear, you have the round part that sticks into the clutch, this peice looks like it sat at the end of the gear to act as a bearing between the end gear and the back side of the clutch. hope that makes sense.
Everything has a purpose, Suzuki dont use parts for no reason. Just because you dont see a need for it you shouldnt assume its not required. The reason the part is not shown on the fiche` is that it is probably integral with something else. Maybe the fact the plastic part failed is the root cause of the starter-clutch failure?? If no-one here can offer advice I would talk to the parts guy at my local Dealer. I certainly wouldnt leave it out.
Show that part on bikerbandit please.
May be a busted part off the alternator rotor or something.
Cool.
Srinath.
That's what I am thinking. There is a metal spacer between the starter clutch and the rotor... look at the pics on THIS PAGE (http://home.bellsouth.net/p/s/community.dll?ep=331&folderid=180718&groupid=41309&folderview=thumbs&ck=) for some ideas.
I am with Srinath on this. Probably from somewhere else...unless someone did a mod.

The piece I'm talking about would have been in between the starter gear and the inside wall of clutch. It would have sat on the center round portion.

Spacer shim ??? plastic ??? not likely, should be metal, plastic will get busted in no time with the stresses that can occour in there.
Cool.

It was a yellow clear piece of plastic broken up bad. I think it's actually what caused my clutch not work. Anyway I put it back togather without it and it starts fine. now I just wish I could get it to run good.
