Title: questions about losing power up top???
Post by: bombadillo on August 23, 2007, 10:33:30 PM
I did the old famous lunchbox filter, and it sounded great when I had it under 0 load.  I got it out and tried anyway to open it up and as soon as it hits around 7k or so it seems to really die out.  I believe from everyone that I've listened to on here that it seems to be lean.  As far as a stock bike, stock exhaust with the possibility of a vance down the road, will a 42.5/140 set of jets be enough to take this problem away.  I'm at 0' as far as sea level goes.  I'm on the water in eureka CA.  Any help would be good, but the main question again is should it die off after 7k because its too lean????

You didn't rejet with the K&N lunchbox??
Put your old airbox back in until you rejet
40/140 will put you rich without an aftermarket exhaust
I would try something in the mid 130's for a main

Not really bad, but it'll be crap for performance, and it's definitely not better than the stocker.

Like Terry says, run the stock box until you can rejet it.

ok, should be able to rejet it in the next few days.  I"m going to have to look at the faq again and just go for it.  I already have the jets in hand, and with 10 days off from work, it should be good.
