Title: My 1990gs 500e project. Brain storming
Post by: lovemygs on August 25, 2007, 08:19:00 AM
So I picked up a 1990gs a couple weeks ago, it was in rough shape.  Now the bike is back together and running good.  Finnaly got the carb  issues figured out.  I decided to go streetfighter with the bike and so far have not done much besides mounting the electrical on the inside of the subframe (which I'm going to cut off where the passenger seat starts..along with getting rid of the passenger seat.)   This is the part where I could use some input though.  I'm wondering what guys are doing suspension wise...I need to atleast switch out the rear shock far to soft...ideas??  Is it worthing switching out the whole swing arm to give myself more tire and rim options? If so what should I switch to.  Also front fork ideas, I know that I'm gona convert to a dual HID lighting system if all goes well and gauges will be replaced with a veypor system...(google it, so cool).  Anyways I would love to hear some ideas from anyone whos got one.

Recap;

Switch swing arm or just the spring?  If so to what?
Front fork options?
Is it possible to run the exahst under the tail with out changing the swing arm?
Single seat options, after I chop the sub frame back?

Sorry theres no pics up yet. Ill post them as soon as I can.

Peace.

Have you searched the words " rear shock" for ideas?

Or, "fork springs"?  There's a wealth of information here on both.

Going to use early to mid 90's Busa forks.

These are the best. Most people dont do this only due to the expense.  :thumb:
Early to mid 90 busa ... damn you lucky dog.
Cool.
