I've had to leave sunny Orlando, FL for 5 months of US Army Training. Spent 7 weeks at Ft Sill outside of Lawton, OK....OH MY GAWD...if god ever made anything of anger it's the people in Lawton, OK... :dunno_white: :dunno_white:
14 Weeks in Ft Leonard Wood, MO. Nice post but St. Robert......why does the army PICK these places?! ......I come home Oct 29.....5 months away from my poor GS
BTW I'm blew things up with C4. Yea I'm that much more badass than you :flipoff:
so you're saying the people are jerks? or the town sucks?
hey now, i live bout an hour from fort wood, an love it :flipoff:
And I live an hour and fifteen minutes from Ft. Sill in Lawton. Great riding and beautiful scenery down there. I like it.
People-wise, it's a pretty typical base town. Maybe you ought to ask yourself why there is such a thing as a "typical base town." That has very little to do with the location. :kiss3:
Ft. Sill is a very historic army base. Geronimo was imprisoned there after his capture. I believe he is buried there.
wasn't a forum member recently banned for using expletives in the title of a post? :dunno_white:
Yeah, I was banned for that.
And Ft. lost in the woods does suck.............
wait till you get to go to Ft. beat me
I've heard Sill is nice,..........
So you're 21B I assume??? or whatever the f%$k the army has designated CE now....
I would really like it if they would chill with reorganizing the MOS structure........
So where you already in or did they drop BCT down to 7 weeks???

Yeah, I heard that. I'd rather live in Mountain Grove or anywhere in southern Missouri than Orlando anyday. Orlando? Now that place sucks.

Sadly you are not far from the truth.....Every army post I've been to has a real crappy town. I always wonder if the town was crappy then they built the post or did they build the post and the town went to crap. Sadly I think it's the latter.... :icon_rolleyes:
Yes, I saw Gerinamo's grave. Interesting place Ft. Sill is, Lawton, not so much. But I know it does make GREAT riding area, I just didn't have my gs :(

I'm a new LT going through BOLC 3 for Engineers. My unit is 21B though.
Ahhhhhh.
Well, congrats on the commission :thumb:
Actually, I have found that EVERYWHERE has a good bike road somewhere nearby. I have often been amazed (here in the relatively flat lands) to find twisty fun roads off the main highways. You just have to look.
I also enjoy local history -- wherever we travel. Keeps things from being "boring."
I grew up in the suburbs and always enjoyed the big city. However, after living in semi-rural America for 17 years, there's a lot to be said for living somewhere with a low crime rate, little traffic, and inexpensive real estate!
So don't diss the Midwest! It's not Orlando, but that's not necessarily a bad thing... It depends on your perspective!
