I've been in pretty tough military training since June and left my bike in Orlando so I haven't been visiting the board. Recently I've been reading random threads and I heard someone mention a 650F, ignored it since I didn't know what it was. I dropped by the suzki page to look at the SVs and HOLY CRAP WHAT THE HECK IS THAT?!
It looks new from the ground up with gs500 influences. 650cc, EFI.
Give me the low down GStwins.
HEAVY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! VERY HEAVY!!!!!!!!
I personally wouldn't get one
ditto, power to weight is terrible
that thing is a grizzly size for a sporty bike of just 650cc. 475lbs dry ... Most other sport bikes in that class are 100lbs less.
100lbs less and pump out more power :cookoo:
It's a Bandit 650 in disguise
Hold on to your lunch/breakfast/dinner! This video doesn't make me want to buy this bike. It makes me want to hunt it down and kill it. Is it just me, or is there a glitch in the Matrix? :dunno_white:

How often does a gsx-r 600 use all of it's available power ?
Does it really matter what the numbers are if the ridability is improved with the EFI mapping ?
Maybe the suspension is spot -on ?
Notice the upright seating, decent ergos, and wind protection.
I don't want to hunt it down and kill it. I want to ride it and see for myself. Seems more folks are passing judgement without riding input. Or maybe I'm an unpaid shill for Suzuki ?
Dunno, I'll keep the jury in the room until the bike is stinkin from being ridden in the hot Florida sun...
agree with Ohgood. It doesn't matter how much power a bike makes if it does not handle well or if it's not comfortable on long rides. Hell, even most small bikes will still outperform 99% of cars out there, and get way better mileage doing it.
Weight also does not mean a lot. What matters is how well a bike is balanced.
There is more to motorcycling besides going fast. Ultimately, it's about just enjoying the ride.
Let's actually ride a 650F, and see how the package as a whole performs, before we pass judgment.
HP to weight ratio ?
The GS is a bit over 10 lbs per HP.
If the 650F has just 50 HP, that would be just over 9 lbs per HP.
I would think that it actually has closer to 60 HP.
I'd take it, the extra weight would make it more suitable as a Jr. tourer/ commuter. Especially in high winds that we get here in Okla.

I missed the HP/TQ numbers. What is the torque ?
Don't kill the bike kill that bloody add that almost put me off the bike but otherwise it seems ok :thumb:
Here are the specs for Bandito 650, the GSX650F has the same engine: 77.5 rwhp 43.7 ft lbs

Yeah that add is bloody awful !
that would give it 6.12 lbs per HP ratio.
Much better than the GS.
Not as good as a sport bike, But then it really isn't a sport bike.
It's a sporty bike. :icon_mrgreen:

I could not disagree with that statement more. The
650F looks to be at least 80 lbs heavier than current 650 offerings. Doesn't matter how balanced the handling is--and in this day & age I'm sure Suzuki will have the suspension dialed in--that weight will change the very nature of the ride.
But, Gisser, the weight goes away once your moving... No it doesn't! Instead of fun, light and flickable, compared to a GStwin, this pork-fest gets out of shape in a turn things could get a whole lot uglier. And don't even think of taking a planned off pavement excursion. And no it isn't just the ride, it's muscling it around in the back of the truck, in the parking lot, its the space it eats up in the garage, it's a big bike. I mostly ride a mid-eighties 750 dinosaur and I have fun but if I were buying today would I replace it with another 480 lb "sporty" bike? Hell no! We've come a long way baby and less is more when it comes to two-wheelin'. :thumb:
The 650f is 79 lbs more than the GS.
Most of that is going to be in the engine down low. With the new suspension, I would think it will handle every bit as good as the GS if not better.
holy crap, the editing on that video made me want to destroy beautiful things
fugly bike :P and fugly vid
weight means everything unless you want to go in a straight line
Yeah, it's not a sport bike. It's a sport tourer and they are marketing it that way. Did you see the people in the video flying around a track with sparks flying off of their disintegrating pegs? No. They were having a nice, quiet, enjoyable ride. It's not for me personally, but why are so many against this bike? Is it really that much different than a GS500F? Nope. Thats why I have a K model.
-Anti 8)
Meh...Wouldn;t you people agree that the bike is the GS with a bit more horsepower? I mean we have the sport touring bike? Put in a couple hundred to make the bike handel a bit better...and there you go... All I am saying is that if they cut the GS500F out, I am very glad to be the owner of the last ones made. I think they are great bikes and the 650 is really...nothing special. BY the by...That movie...has anyone else watched the other movies? THEY ARE ALLL SHIAT...they make the bikes look so stupid...anyways my two cents.
Cheers
:dunno_white:
That add is really terrible. I think the song is the worst part, out of all the bad parts :icon_rolleyes:
Well the bike looks pretty nice but what the hell is that add all about??!?
(Hi y'all - my first post in about a year - so bad of me, been too busy riding my new-to-me FZ6 this year)
With this new 650 is the GS500 gonna get pushed off the stage?!
weird editing, movement, and weird shots. None of them flow together. You could make any kind of ad with these bikes, including really cool ones that would make u want to buy the 650F regardless of weight, seems like something was off there.
Suzuki make the lamest adds for their bikes lately ( just seen add for B-King ,which is ugly IMO with that exhaust or even without :icon_razz: )
Motorcycles are exciting so make them look that way , 650F is an OK bike just a little on the heavy side at 475lbs dry ,
now add oil ,gas and your sorry butt and it's a pork ,even sport tourers nowadays rarely creep above 440 lbs ,
but you get a lot of bike for the price at least which is on par with SV650
forgot all that nerdy technical mechanichal intellectual stupid things....... i will never buy that turtle .. i have ran with 1 to heavy the GS perform is better you have better control in GS than in 650F because the weith .
GS more power/weight = more control , in a corner with the bike almost in floor at 80/mph when you are almost finishing the corner you hit the gas to stand the bike again and start the strait line. oh! GOD my GS do it awsome !!!
650F do the same !!! you dont have much power to stand the bike from the corner. you dont have the power to go zigzag between cars in highway . you dont have power. that is.
pd. yes you have power but not the correct to handle the bike !!!!
are you on drugs?
