I have three questions.
1. Ok I'll try to explain my newest problem. I can ride for about ten or fifteen minutes. Then if I let off the gas coming to a stop it stalls and will not start for about two or three minutes. then it will do the same thing every time I stop. When tring to restart I get a load pop prior to starting. When it does finally start it runs good untill next time I slow down.

140/40 2-washers 2.5 turns out I started with 1 washer but it was lean.

2. I think I messed up my charging system. I saw some smoke coming from around my battery, it was actually a wire clip burning.

what does the bike idle at?....bump it up a bit
clean the plugs and start it and let it idle for 10 min or so and check plugs....lean or rich at idle?
volt meter to the battery at idle and ....about 5k....
what is the voltage across the batt?
if low....ya probably fried the volt regulator
almost any 5 wire VR can be used
if low... also check the AC output of the generator
