the thing laft to the throtle cables, with the big hose coming out it
Where does the hose run too?
I can't remember seeing that on my bike :dunno_white:
Is it a California spec bike?
That is an F model GS. And, I still don't know what that is until I can get my hands on an F and trace where that hose goes (and every other hose).
What's that orange stuff on the cylinder fin?
I would veture thats rust from the screws above it.
Is that connected to the oil cooler? The only thing I can think of since I own an '02
-Anti 8)
i will check the 04-07 clymer i have. not right now because i am boiling lobster :) MAINE ROCKS
I think its:
#6 VALVE ASSY, 2ND AIR REED
18450-10F03
?

oh ya you could check the phish out at
http://www.alpha-sports.com/suzuki_parts.htm
i work there...sorta
the hose go to the valve covers and one hose hangs there, wen i cover it the hollow noise goes away.
If I had to guess (and this is ONLY a guess), I would say either oil cooler or emissions (i.e. egr valve of some sort). :dunno_white:
If I were to guess, Id say either an vacuum control thing, or a crank case breather. Hard to tell not knowing where the hoses go to/from.
Its a VAC line, I have mine just hanging around since I removed the air box. NO big deal.
That is your PAIR valve, part of the PAIR system used for emission controls - probably another reason why the GS is doomed. :) We discussed this previously, but I can't find the thread. The SV1000 site has a great discussion on the subject and the hardware for that bike. CLICK HERE (http://www.suzukisv1000.com/faq/pair.htm)
Click on the image below for a bigger/clearer picture of the hose routing:

I also have one that is 50% of the pointed image - CLICK HERE (http://vtxstar.com/sitebuilderImages/Carbs/04PAIRhoses_50.JPG)
Hmm... I don't have one of those on my '04... :icon_confused:
Nor do I. I also have an 04. Lucky us....I guess
That would make it Calieee forneee bike.
Soooo.....it's an EGR valve with a fancy new name...got it. :thumb:
I noticed in the original picture there is no hose coming from the Valve Cover Breather?
The more I look at the diagram, the more I realize that it IS the equivalent of an automotive Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) valve. For those that don't know what that does, it is an emissions control device that redirects a portion of the exhaust gasses back into the intake to be sent throught the combution cycle again, reducing the amount of emission particulates passing through the exhaust. That makes the exhaust cleaner for California's more stringent standards.
Again, it's still a guess, but after seeing the schematics, it's a very well educated guess imho.
Hope that answer is more useful. :thumb:
Please read my comment in the thread below.

That injects air into the exhaust port not the intake like an EGR valve.
Never saw one on a GS but my Dad's Intruder had one that we promply removed after some research on Intruder sites. Seems to be the weak link when a lot of backfireing type problems come up first thing they pull off. Some one made a kit to remove it on the Intruder mainly just a couple of block off plates and some plumbing parts for the air hoses.
BTW that Intruder is an '03 so they've been around for a little while. Must only be on CAL. spec. GS's though.
