Title: Thanks for the help!
Post by: highnoonhunter on September 04, 2007, 09:20:47 PM
I don't post a lot on here, but I read a lot.

And through reading your posts I've been able to mod my bike without any trouble. First I rejetted my stock bike.

Then, this past weekend I modified a 440 Cannondale dirt bike exaust can for my GS. Installed pod filters. Removed the center stand. And rejetted the carbs with a 147.5 main, 65 mid, and 22.5 pilot jets.

My bike sounds great with the Cannondale can on it. I shortened it about 8 inches, making it only about 12 inches long. I took out the fiberglass packing, but left the cone shaped screen inside. My whole exhaust feels lighter than my old can did! It has a great thumper sound at low RPMs, and then smooths out to actually below wind noise at cruising speeds. That's pretty much the sound I was looking for. I wanted it loud when I wanted it to be.

I still have some fine tuning to do on the carbs. I actually got my suggestion for my jet sizes from comparing several different set-ups that you members have listed in your signatures.

So, THANKS! for all the useful info on here!

I'll try and get a photo of the exhaust tonight or tomorrow.
