Ordered a set of Third Eye bar end mirrors today. I get home to install them and there is this bar about a half an inch inside my handle bar tube. Anyone know how to get rid of it or does it have to be there? Still kinda of noob so any help would be appreciated.

It is tac welded in there... its what the bar ends screw into. I have tried to drill em, beat em and torch them out  I think the only thing you can do is buy new bars w/o them :thumb: But maybe I am wrong?
Well hell, I guess I'm in the market for some new handlebars.
I am getting ready to do a write up on the Cat eye bar end mirrors.I used the threaded insert to secure mine even tho they are made for a hollow bar.Are you using these? If so my write up will not work for you.

couldn't you just replace the bolt that would expand the rubber insert to one that fits the insert in the bar?
ill have to try something im in desperate need of mirrors since the po was an imbecile.

maybe so but he had good taste in the colors of his bike.
ha! i actually did that. before it had a blue skull with smoke all over the tank...plus his fingerprints and and smudges and even the remains of a couple of bugs caught in the clear.

Possible.May have to drill out the hole in the mirror. The bolt size should be M6-1.0.
it looks like the thing that you scre barend mirrors into. screw a bolt into it and pull it out, and if its tack welded in, get a pipe, or something that fits up against it flush, and is relatively wide as compared to its overall diameter, and hit it with a focking hammer. a tack weld is nothing, pop it, pull it out.
haha, i reread everything clearly, just get a bolt that fits into the bar end, and modify your mirrors to fit flush and bolt them in, use washers if your bolt is scrawny.
Get a decent hammer, and a decent 1/2" socket extension. Two pops should do it proper. THen fill the bars with lead shot, and enjoy the absence of buzzzzzz.
Twas what I did anyway.
Has anybody tried drilling the spot welds out?
As I said I tried hammering, drilling, pounding, smashing.. they don't come out :thumb:
yeah really, they will, you are pussyfooting around.
You need the flush mount style. There available but you'll have to search for them.
If you cant return the one's you've got, then put them up for sale here or on ebay. Not worth butchering your bars to make them fit.
