will the 89 bolt in, im guessing yeah. what about tanks swapping out from 01/02 with previous years?
ive got an 02/03 with a humped motor, and an 89 donor.....just curious aboot the tank issue.
As for the engine, I'd presume yeah, an '89 could fit in to an '02.
I'm not aware of any significant frame change. Bear in mind that, AFAIK, earlier bikes only have single throttle cable setup, whereas newer ('01 +) have dual cables.
Older tank on newer bike, did I get it well?
I read about somebody fitting an '01+ tank on an older bike, don't know about the opposite. :dunno_white:
well if it goes backwards, it should reverse just fine. the donor bike is complete, so id just swap the motor, keep the 02/03 carb settup.
motor will fit... tanks were the same from '89-'00 and '01-'07, same with tail plastics. So you can put your '89 motor on the '02 frame, but you'll have to keep the '02 tank.
How will the tach issue work? Aren't new ones electrical and older mechanical?

Yes the tack hook up is diffrent but can be made to work.Seek out Dgyver for help.
I have an 04 tank on an 89 gs the seat works but looks and fits better if the front of the seat is cut down a couple inches.
