Title: How do I remove the ignition switch?
Post by: facepants on September 08, 2007, 06:19:12 PM
I'm trying to remove it because i need to relocate it to the side of the bike but I cant seem to figure out what size screws/bolts or whatever it is that's holding it on to the bike.

Are you talking about the parts diagrams?

If so, it only shows the part number.  It doesn't say what size it is or anything about what I'm looking for.  It calls that part both a "bolt" and a "screw".

I would like to know what tool I need to remove the ignition and what size.  If anyone can help I'd appreciate it.

They are security bolts. The heads snap off when tightened. There is nothing that fits what is left to remove them.

The service manual recommends using a punch to tap them loose. I have only remove 1 bolt this way. I have found using screw extractors worked the best. I like the tapered square shaft type, the spiral type only break for me.
