Title: My dream.............by Mayoke (Age 3 and a half judging from my giddiness)
Post by: Mayoke on September 16, 2007, 04:54:18 AM
I d00d it.
I went to Tn yesterday and bought one of my dream bikes and rode it back to Atlanta.
First off, thanks to theopsmanager for being completely straight up and honest about everything.
The bike was exactly as he described.

Moving on............
I never really lusted after Ducatis or Cagivas or Triumphs or any REALLY exotic bikes.
My dream bikes are:
Yamaha Fazer 700, 85-86 Nighthawk CB750SC, Bandit 400 and Honda BROS Hawk GT.
Now I own one.
Specifically, a 1988 Honda Hawk GT.
The weather was beautiful yesterday and I had a FANTASTIC ride home.
The bike needs VERY LITTLE to make her 100% perfect and I'm already tracking stuff down.
So, here's some pics.

Here she is fresh off the truck. I hate the exhaust but it's gonna change. I want to show off the SEX that is the first production bike with a single sided swingarm.

The OTHER side. (duh)

Loaded up. This was my first gas stop. Got some chips and a Mt. Dew. The only downfall of the bike is it has a TEENY TINY tank. Specifically, a 3 gallon tank. I got close to 50mpg so that's not a lot of radius but pretty impressive considering I only have 5 gears and was running 85-90mph to keep up with traffic.

I ALWAYS stop at Scenic Overlook in Tn if it's daylight. The funniest part about this was that a semi pulled in right after I did. The guy jumps out and LITERALLY RUNS over to me SCREAMING, "HOLY shaZam!! IS THAT A HAWK GT?" I almost fainted since most people won't realize what it is. Seems it is a bike he'd always wanted too. I stayed and talked to him about 30 min. Real nice guy. His whole family rides.

Made it home but didn't feel like going straight home. After all, what good is a victory if you don't celebrate it some?

In my world, Sonic Grape Slush = WIN!

Cool!  Goes to show you don't need a brand new XYZ-1,000 to have fun!  Nothing like finally making a longtime dream come true is it?  You'll enjoy that bike for a long time to come, which is what riding is all about as far as I'm concerned.

Speaking Italian, I can't count the number of times people have asked me if my GS is a Ducati.  Must be the dual headlights and the lack of decals.

Enjoy the "new" Hawk!

This one is a KEEPER.

I bet he was jealous when you told him you were riding it home for the first time...

It's the one on 75S, I don't remember exactly where. I left from Knoxville so it was somewhere between Knox and Chatt I think.

I thought the bros was the euro dispach version without the SSSA...regular swing arm
I owned a Hawk for about 6 hours
it won the national championship lightweight twins bike(maybe D-super)   in....96 -97 or about there....they were the sh!t until the SV came out in 99
nice to see one that wasn't a beat to death track bike
congrats

The "BROS" was technically the JP version. All Hawk GTs were SSSA.
I just like saying BROS. Makes me feel speshul.   :icon_mrgreen:
