alright so one day i'm ridin and the bike starts running bad, now i have a very slow acceleration, sometimes it will kick back in and have good acceleration but not long. can anyone help? please
An easy place to start would be to check your plugs :thumb: You could also be having trouble w/ the petcock. It may even be time for a carb cleaning :thumb:
Water in the tank ??? GREMLINS !!! ???
Someone will narrow it down :thumb:
Do a bit of trouble shooting and post back :thumb:
got new spark plugs put them in still runs the same.
I have a similar problem. I believe the carb needs servicing. Seems to run a bit better when the petcock is on PRIME.
mine runs the same on prime
well, baring the plugs and petcock... How do you think the carbs are?
maybe something to do with the carbs ya, but what do i do to find out?
there is a pretty good How to on the GStwin "website"
http://www.gstwin.com/carb_work.htm
You may not need to do a complete rebuild of the carbs, they may just need cleaning and/or adjustment. :thumb:
well i forgot to mention something, when i swapped engines (first engine blew) i couldnt get the air box on the carbs all the way so i just left it, 4 months later (now) i pulled the gas tank off and saw that the air box was completely off the carbs could that be a problem with stuff gettin into the carbs?
did you rejet your bike?? even if you did, with air box "misplaced" you are getting to much air into the carbs. you are propably running too lean. put your airbox back on the carbs and see what happens.
there is also possibility that dust or something else came in to the carbs and they need a good cleaning. but try putting the airbox back in place first.
keep us informed

I wish I had, no acceleration problem on my bike.
hah u suck PatrickInNC.. just playin well puttin th carbs back on didnt help. so i took them off and sprayed half a bottle of carb cleaner into the carbs, should i just take them apart and clean them good so i dont have to take them off?
Yes.. Take em apart... its not that hard.
To start you could just try removing the bottom side. remove and clean the jets and bowls well with a good carb cleaner.
Also, I had trouble getting the airbox on as well. I found it much easier to attach it to the carbs first then put it all in together :thumb:
alright bike still runs the same
Sounds to me like you have a fuel delivery problem. I think you have made sure all your connections are tight. If not, then do that.
Next, check to see if you have a rust gas tank, or worse a kreem'd gas tank with the kreem peeling off. It sounds like you may have something in the gas tank that covers the fuel outlet. Does it run better or worse with different gas levels?
I also had the problem of something being in the carbs, and it would clog while riding, slowing or completely cutting off fuel, which also is caused by dirty gas tank. I cleaned multiple times then finally I must have blown whatever it was out from wherever it was hiding. Started running fine again. Ultimately I think the gas tank is the root of all problems on the GS :)
If you have cleaned your carbs and still are having issues, its most likely the single vacuum line on the bike, or the petcock.
For now try cleaning the carbs which will also tell you if you have a rusty gas tank. (Rust will be sitting in the bottom of the float bowls, the covers you remove off the bottom of carbs)
Try this and hopefully soon, you too can have, "no acceleration problem."
