so last night i get the new-to-me ignition in and the bike starts and runs fin, so i shut it off and go inside for the night. this morning i get up, get ready and start up the bike, and go to make the morning pick ups for my store, i get to the first store, get in the turning lane slow down and down shift, while i had the clutch pulled the bike dies, so i pop the clutch and get it started again. it ran like absolute shaZam!. i pulled into the parking lot and kept some throttle to see if it was a fuel prob. it kept feeling fuel starved, and on a full tank, so i switched to reserve and nothing. finally i let off the throttle and it dies, pull the clutch hit the starter, and nothing, check the lights, dead. so i popped off the headlight to check all the connections and everything is fine, but still getting no power. i pulled the fairing to check the starter relay and the fuse was blown in it, so replaced that and still nothing....somebody help please
odd. has it done this before ?
sounds like a short somewhere, yes, I know you know that already. let me try again.
have you tried using a short detector ?
something about an old flasher relay, and looking for the actual short ?
i'll dig up a link more elegant than my current thought processes...
Wow. Sounds like a very bad day. So here's a simplified schematic to show you how the starter circuit is supposed to work:

If you have fuel issues, it won't help. I hope the schematic at least gives you some direction. Let us know.
ok...so i told my lil bro, who rides a honda shadow sabre 1100, all about my prob, to which his reply is, oh ill fix it for you. since i was still at work i said rock on heres the keys... so my taillight is wired to my right blinker and when i hit the front bakes hard the bike dies. i think im going to drink some beers and worry about this tomarrow.
