Well, my next step now is taking off the fairings so I can give it a full cleaning. I guess I'll try and clean the chain at the same time, and lube it afterwards. That way I can get it all done in a couple of easy steps. I heard that simple green is a good degreaser for the engine. I heard wd-40 is good for the chain. If I can use something for the engine and the chain, it will eliminate the need for all of these products. I was also thinking about taking it to one of those coin-op car washes, but their degreaser may not be so good for the bike parts. Mainly for the soap, water, and the brushes. Any suggestions or past experiences?
wd-40 is a good chain CLEANER... but not a LUBE... make sure to lube it with a chain specific lube, like maxima chain wax or PJ-1 ( I think they make a lube?)
I use simple green not only for the engine, but for pretty much any part of the bike with grime or grease on it.

Yeah, I have some Honda chain lube I got from my friend. Do you use simple green to clean you chain also?
WD40 on chain is a good cleaner, bad for lubrification, Get a chain lube product (I use BEL RAY MC-2 CHAIN LUBE ) after cleaning it..
I ride to car wash (self) and wd40 the chain and use hot water rinse to clean it out.. (I don't have a pressure air-hose) and it works nice, use a towel to dry it up nicely, and apply chain lube on it...
Of course if your going to wash the bike, don't pressure wash the carburetors/air filter and such open areas cause it will put water in engine....
I use a 1/2 water 1/2 vinegar for bugs removal... soak a rag wipe it all over the body kit and then wipe it down dry,
then I use a spray and wipe car product (clean and wax type) that works nicely, spray let sit for a minute and wipe down, this cleans the body kit nicely...
Sure there are 20 way of doing this.... this is just my way of doing it.... oh I plan on "buffing" a good wax coat before winter rolls in.... make it nice and protected against winter grim in Texas (hehehe)
ND: 4mm hex key to get fairing bolts off, 2 clips on engine nose piece and one "clip - push in the middle to release" to the nose.
I use WD40 as a chain lube on O-ring chains :icon_twisted:
