Title: Sweetest sounding car you've faked into caged-SQUID mode...
Post by: ohgood on September 27, 2007, 05:09:14 PM
I've noticed alot of the sportier cars like to rev at stoplights.

Sweetest exhaust note I've heard so far is a g35 infinity (upscaled nissan 350z). They sound good down low, but when they're being abused, they scream like a deflowered badger!

So, what's yours ?

Heard a Ferrari F430 with a Tubi exhaust... I almost got some woman in the next car over pregnant, the sound was so nice. Especially bouncing off the tall buildings in the city here creating one of the nicest echoes these ears have ever heard.

Um, g35 infiniti...bwahahaha. I couldnt agree more about the sound. they really 'tuned' the OEM exhaust sound. Better in my 6 speed than the auto.
and the g35 is the Skyline in japanese market. same exact car except for the logos. Same rear active steer as the old skyline too.

I would agree with the Ferrari. Its just an absolutely amazing sound. The sound is so refined with the high pitched bark when its revved and then as the revs drop an airy burble. The exhaust just sounds as though it is tuned to make the perfect sound no matter what its doing

Lambo Gallardo.  It was orange.  I grabbed my GF and made her stop talking when it went by and the I screamed at her, "Did you hear that car?"  She was like, "Yes.  It sounded good."  But she was a little annoyed.

HAHAHA! Omg i know just where you come from. It must be just a manly urge but i will be walking down the street and either see or hear some amazing car or bike and i just cant resist the urge but to cut right across what the GF is saying just to get her to look or listen to the car/bike. And then your disappointed because theyre so not anywhere near as interested as you are and just want to carry on the boring mundane conversation (i use the word conversation loosly its more like being talked at because your so not interested and still thinking about the cool car/bike)

Oh well were not together now but i can still marvel at the cool cars and stuff.

Hahahah, the viper that is supposed to be the car to beat around here sounds like crap.  He's got some kind of straight through exhaust that sounds like a crappy v6 with no muffler at idle.  Then all of a sudden, he opens it up and you hear 10 cylinders of fury ready to eat your face off at any given moment.  He's got some kind of slicks on the back and a 250 shot of nitrous at the drag strip and no idea what else done to it, and he runs high nines, low ten's.  It just sounds absolutely awful when idling though.

Infiniti's has done a great job tuning their exhausts... I love 'em.  Another one I've liked is a Jeep a roomate of mine had.  4.0L I-6 with a Dynomax exhaust.  It just sounded great

my farts ( in the toilet bowl)......, errm, well when i was in phoenix, a car dealer which had well "exotic" marques for sale, had a charity day, where a donation was made and you could ( provided you were licensed) drive one of what they had, for 20 mins, i got to drive a 360 modena, later on , drove an s600 ( v12, heard absolutely nothing, VERY quiet.)

best rumble i've ever heard was at a corvette show. i couldn't begin to tell you all the makes and models that were there.  nothing compares to 500+ hp of american muscle fired up. and it gets better when ya get more than one of em. think, "dueling banjos" but with vette engines. my opinion of course.

Eh, my V6 tacoma wouldn't sound near as good with an aftermarket exhaust, and IMO any I-4 has a hard time sounding good (or maybe I'm just sick of all the ricers with their coffee can exhausts).  I've heard 4.0 jeeps with lots of different exhaust and nothing else has sounded as good.  I guess lots of V-8,10,12s sound good, especially with aftermarket exhaust, but my roommate's jeep just really stands out as something unique.

Another one I really liked was my dad's Acura NSX, though that wasn't so much the exhaust sound I immensely enjoyed.  The sound of the screaming intake and the noise of the high revving V-6 a few inches behind you is what really got me going

Those are not cages, those are miracles of engineering. But yes, every year I go to F1, and come back thinking that all regular cars sound like electric razors. When those things blow by you, you can actually "hear" them throughout your whole body. Just flippin amazing.

agreed casi agreed 100%. buty i didnt want to waste bandwidth and create another thread , teh one where they are testing teh engine and you see the exhaust get  red ass hot, THAT is amazing, those engines are built with very tight tolerances, and get flogged so hard. no wonder their shelf life is not gr8. ie if teh engine survives teh race, its rebuilt
