So, I get to my bike this morning and the idle is almost dying below 1200rpm and almost stalling. I went to adjust the idle screw to find it missing :o
Anyone have a spare or do I need to contact the dealer?

first of all: if your idle screw is not there and you can start the engine that means that your carbs are totaly out of sync. If they were synchronized you wouldn't be able to start motor without the idle screw.
you can get the idle screw from the dealer store or any other store that sells OEM parts for GS

Didn't really ride it much after the post above last year. Trickled the battery, added some gas and it started right up.
Somehow the bike rides fune, it just idles high now like 2500-3000rpm. What would be the easiest way to synchronise the carbs?
First you need to check and adjust the valves so the carbs are getting all the vacuum the engine produces.Then you need to balance the carbs.May help to clean and set the float heights before balancing the carbs.Here's some links to review.

Oh F^&k ... I got idle screws ... heck I may have tossed a couple atleast ... like who in their right mind will ever need one ... that was my line of thinking ...
Anyway, I have one. How's $5 and shipping. BTW the katana has a different one, you wanna adapt one of those, you can adjust it without stuffing your hand under the carbs and getting burnt by the motor.

That would be great Buddha! Thanks for the links ben2go. I got some soap and water and let the bike run while I sprayed over the lines. It didn't seem to hiccup, so I figured the vacuum was ok. Hmmm I'll have to look through the whole video, seems like it's a valve adjustment guide. I was looking at the carb_work site. I am not sure I want to re-jet it just yet. I watched the carb syn and it wasn't super clean on that tiny video...
The biggest problem, is I don't know what's been done, and I am not positive I want to take it all apart, since I currently don't have the time. I know there is a lunchbox on there. I am not sure if the previous owner re-jetted it after that or not.
For the most part the bike runs fine. :dunno_white:

sounds pretty normal to me, maybe a tad to high rpms. it's weird tho. how come it idles so well if the idle screw is missing :o it shouldn't even start without the screw...
I dunno, this bike is a beast. I just do basic maintenance and it runs like a bull. I was going to sell it, but not sure if I want to anymore :icon_razz:
Is that rust on the front rotor? Based on your description, the bike has been sitting for 9 months?
Was there any fuel stabilizer in the gas when the bike was parked?
You say that for the most part the bike runs fine. Does that mean you have ridden it since taking it out of storage? Did it run well at all rpm?
It's oxidation from not riding it very often. Plus, it's been raining here. It runs fine around the block it seems, I didn't really get to rev it out a ton, but it was doing well under 8K rpm. Yeah, it sat for 9 month. I drained the fuel completely over winter, so when I trickled the battery and threw in some new fuel, it started right up.
