In case you don't want to read the other thread, the short story is that when I added Sea Foam fuel system treatment to my tank at the gas station, I inadvertantly filled my '00 GS-E with diesel fuel. The motor coughed and spat all the way home from the station and eventually would not fire at all. I immediately and incorrectly assumed that Sea Foam was the cause of my problems. Once I discovered the REAL problem, many of the members here offered the solution of draining the tank, lines and carbs and cleaning the spark plugs which worked like a charm. I'm happy to say the bike is running BETTER than ever (even before I treated it with Sea Foam tonight). Could it be psychological because I'm so happy to have avoided a huge repair bill (or worse) or is it possible the diesel lubricated everything*? I'll swear the front wheel almost popped up shifting into 2nd gear tonight.
I've added the Sea Foam (about one ounce per gallon) and I will let it do it's thing. It's still a great product in my book. For all I know, having so much of it in the tank of diesel DID help.
Side bar for you guys in KC; Today, I called Freedom in Grandview to see what they recommended I do and get an estimate to repair/flush the system. Their service tech said I needed to bring it in and plan to spend 2 hours at $82.50/hour to "diagnose the repair." This would not include flushing the fuel system or tearing down the engine to inspect everything. I'm not sure what they were planning to do for $160 bucks but he said it would be a minimum of 2 hours. I've been warned about them before and now I'm a believer. I even asked if I should try to drain the system myself to see if that would help and he said no. It felt like a scam.

*I, in no way, recommend running diesel through your fuel system. I do, however, recommend adding Sea Foam to your tank occasionally and in the appropriate amounts.
Dude, drain your carbs and tank and refill it with gas.
Turn it over until it catches, no harm no foul.

Thanks for the retraction, personally I just add a whole damn can to a tank of gas. Hasn't hurt anything yet, sure as hell cleaned the carbon forest off the valves though.

It basically cleans the fuel system and carbs/injectors in cars, boats and bikes. It is also good for stabilizing the gas in your tank if you plan to store your bike for extended periods like during winter. There are other products that do about the same thing. My Suzuki dealer recommends Techron (http://www.chevron.com/products/prodserv/fuels/additives/concentrate_plus.shtml).

Is your bike running now? I would pull the plugs out and give them at least a spray down with carb cleaner, if not replacement. Once you drain it out be sure not to run your starter too much at one time trying to get it to start. Hit it for 5-10 seconds and then give it an bit 15-30 mins to cool then try it again. That is if you have the patients.

Errrr...yeah as stated above. Thanks for the input but it's running better than ever. Once I got the diesel removed (as much as possible without tearing down everything) and cleaned the plugs, she kicked on the first try and fired up on the second. I consider myself lucky to get out of this one free and easy. The only costs were the wasted diesel fuel and a 5 gallon gas can.
I DID nearly run the battery down trying to start it before I figured out the problem but it hasn't given me any trouble since. It's funny to me now...full choke with the throttle wide open...kachug kachug kachug....oh, man I was freakin!

i would check the Batt fluid level. a deep drain and recharge CAN cause you to vent acid.
