Title: new 1/4 mile times
Post by: 04gs on October 04, 2007, 10:26:33 AM
a couple of months ago i went to gateway international raceway and ran my 04 gs 500 with a vance and hines, k n air box filter and a poor tune, went 14.4 @90 with a 2.11 60'

i swithted to the 15 sprocket over the 16 front, swapped out the air box and k@n for a  k@n clamp on filter that eliminates the air box, and spent alot of time playing with the getting...results.....................

13.82 @92 with a 1.92 60'     i'm pretty happey with it but would like to get the 60 down to a 1.88 or so.

Is there any good cams out there that will help my top end,

I was either going to do a cam swap or the 78mm gpz1100 big bore pistons.

that's a pretty good slip.  what RPM are you launching at?  Seems like my 60' was in the 1.75 realm when I ran last  but it's been a while since then.  If you can shave you 60' down a tad you'll be pulling higher rpm longer cutting your ETs down.  Very nice run!  :thumb:

Megacycle will modify your supplied cams for something around $250.

i usually launch around 9,000

i think my problem on my 60 is that im not letting the clutch out hard enough, i tend to slip it out, bog the rpm to 7,000 and let it out from there, i know it all takes practice and being at the track, there seems to be more pressure put on you, but every run did get better and my reaction times ranged from .120-.054.

i raced against my buddies ninja 636 and i beat him 5 out of 6 times in the 60' but quarter he ran 11.3, good racing in the 60' :2guns:

I also have a 2000 z28 camaro that i take to the track and run a 12.71 @109.77 with a 1.88 60'...........and an 88 dodge ram 4x4 that i put a 440 into and it runs 16.1 @82 with a 2.27 60'

as you can tell i love the drag racing, and having a quick car and fairly quick 4x4 you would think i would own a gsxr 600, maybe someday,

If i did go with the 78mm pistons, do i need to re balance the crack assemble or do i just need to bore and hone the cylinders, i think this may be a better route because i will never have the top end as a 600 but if i have more low end i can kill them that much more in the 60' and maybe win some bets if i can get the launch down

I have never re-balanced the crank.
