Hi All,
I have a 2007 GS500F and really enjoy it. Now its time that i want to start doing some mods to it. I'm going to be replacing the tail lights with a carbon fiber clones that i saw in ebay. But my real question is for this part:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/suzuki-hayabusa-katana-GSX-GSXR-600-750-CARBON-BAR-ENDS_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ35587QQihZ001QQitemZ110179596041QQtcZphoto
The description says that it will fit:
ITEM FITS
SUZUKI 97-00 GSXR600/96-99 GSXR750/99-06 HAYABUSA/97-01 TL1000S
03-06 SV1000S/98-06 KATANA 600 750
Since i dont really know if they will fit mine i was hoping if anyone knew it they are all standard sizes?
Thanks.
btw, i really dig this site. This is where i go to get great info on the bike and mods that people have done.
No they wont work....
But there are far more options out there in terms of bar ends. The ones you want to look for have a expandable rubber piece that holds into the bar end. Goto your local cycle shop and check out the LP(Lockhart Phillips) brand ones, they work just fine.
Although you do understand the importance of stock bar ends right? They are lead filled for a reason, the heavier the bar end the more the vibrations in the bar are damped. Or you could install some sort of viscous dampening, but thats alot of work
i replaced my bar ends and didnt notice much vibrations but there was a slight change. Although most of the vibrations went away when i changed the oil :dunno_white:
I have carbon fiber clone bar ends from my '90 GS. Should fit right. One of them is a little scuffed up from a drop by the owner before me. I have no use for them anymore though. Also have matching mirrors. They are handle bar mounted though.

Yeah, for your 07 you're going to need the kind that have the rubber expander thingie, not the screw-in kind. Browse fleabay a bit more, you'll see the difference. Or better yet, unscrew your stock one and take a look. Rubber expander ones are sized based on your handlebar diameter.
I'm a BIG fan of the stock ends, because they are so heavy, and I feel a difference in the vibration of the bars. However, after having replaced 3 of them that flew out while riding, and 1 that got wrecked in a crash, I have now switched to cheapy light aftermarket ones. My hands go numb in like 5 minutes. The stock ones are freaking pricey!!
I find it odd that people talk about their hands going numb. I've had three different sets of bars on my GS without bar ends and I've never had a problem with that. I've taken some extended highway rides with two of the bars and still no problems. I did put aftermarket grips on though, maybe they quell the vibration some. I don't remember noticing much vibration with the stock grips and bars either. :dunno_white:
Also, my current grips are the same Progrip Superbike grips that Prafeston has in his pics above.
I haven't ridden mine much, since I just got my permit on Wednesday, but I haven't noticed much vibration when I've been on it. And with the new dirtbike bar I put on it without the bar end weights it still seems good. I would like to find a decent set of cheap bar end mirrors, though with the wider dirtbike bar I'm affraid that might make it seem even wider. I just don't like the look of mirrors.
My bar ends are for a early 90's GSXR.Gottem from Ebay. The screw that came with them fit great.
Thanks for all the information, it gives me some real good information
