Title: speedo question
Post by: tripleb on October 12, 2007, 07:56:17 AM
I know this has been asked before but I searched and couldn't find anything specific enough to answer my question quickly.

Will a 2006 speedo work on my '90?

Yeah, it should.  The new tachs aren't compatible, but the speedometer should be.  I don't think they changed the connection from the cable to the gauge.

If you have a large threaded item on the back of the speedometer, not the mounting posts, it is mechanical.

I'm with dgyver, I think it is mechanical and never changed. To do that, Suz would have had to do electronics to sense wheel speed - something I never saw on any GS. Service manual doesn't mention anythng about an electric speedo either.

Tach. Those are electric on late models.
