hello everyone. i just got my 1992 GS about 3 weeks ago and everything seemed to be fine. however, after a short ride i noticed that the forks were leaking fluid. so i decided to try to replace the fork oil and seals myself. i have taken off the front tire and took apart the right fork, but i can't seem to get the old fork seal out. i have tried everything from pouring hot water on the outside (to warm up the seal and the upper bushing) to trying to cut the damn thing out. i just can't seem to get the seal to budge. i was wondering if anyone had any other suggestions, or if i should just take it into the shop and have them remove the seal for me. any help would be nice. thanks.
just kidding. . .i figured it out. i didn't take out the retainer ring! DUUUUH! that was embarrasing. . .on did i realize it after i read how to change fork oil at this website: http://www.bluepoof.com/motorcycles/howto/svs_fork_oil . it really helped because of all the pictures. . .anywho, if anyone has trouble with changing their fork oil, i'm pro now.
Everybody point and laugh now.

Internally those forks are nothing like GS forks. The GS forks use a special tool to remove the internals.Other than that, they are simular.
