Title: Stutters/Stalls
Post by: elric8467 on October 17, 2007, 05:49:49 AM
So... it stutters and sputters and tries to stall right off the throttle. Just did a major re-jet, pilots out 2 1/2, 132.5 on the mains, needles at first notch. No new pilot jets on the advice of my local shop. It'll burble and stutter a little on the way up untill the mains kick in. At WOT it's a perfect beast. Any clues? It's on my GS-EX but a carb is a carb. Maybe play with the pilot screws?

Local guy told me to back them out one to two turns, think it nees to be more? When I fiddled with them the first time they were like four or five turns out and it ran fine.

Hi Elric, check the wiki here: http://cgi.stanford.edu/~sanjayd/gs500/Upgrades/Rejetting

There are jet matrix charts a bit further down the page which should clarify your situation and provide details on recommended jet settings.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,
J

Thanks groff22 but I have an EX500 motor and ex carbs. I guess it's running lean that's why it's trying to die? Should I turn the screws out two or three times?
