Title: Replacing Gauge Lights
Post by: Prafeston on October 21, 2007, 08:26:19 AM
Both my lights are burnt out on my '90 GS. I've seen some posts about replacing the bulbs with LEDs of different colors. Is this an easy swap or is there some moding that needs to be done. I just figured while I already have the tach apart I could atleast replace the bulbs with a color of my choosing, rather than just getting the regular bulbs. Let me know what I should do. Thanks

I prefer red bulbs, since I ride a lot after dark.  Red will preserve your night vision.

#194 colored bulbs are available at most auto parts stores.

The #194 Red Bulbs will fit on my '90 Gauges? The bulbs that were burnt out were 158s...

As I recall, the Clymer manual specs a 194 bulb for the instrument light.

I believe this is the case for all model years, including F's.   :thumb:
