ok, a few days ago my lil bro and i were going for a ride. he comes over i gear up and jump on the gs...cranks up and runs great. i get two houses down and stop at the sign and she died. tried cranking but to no avail. so i came here to check the boards... found a thread that sounded just like my dilemma, said change the plugs. off to the parts place i go, three bucks, and a battery charge later still no happiness. so i check to see if I'm getting fire. no fire to either side...how much money am i looking at?

Check the ignition rotor and pickups to make sure they are tight. On the right side under the small round cover.
its been cold out for the last couple of days so i havent messed with any thing. i am thinkin maybe its time to put it up for the winter and tear it down and do a proper re-paint.
Get a multimeter and a 7mm socket wrench, and pull the timing cover on the right side of the motor. That'll expose the rotor and the pickups. Set your multimeter to resistance, I think I was set to the 2k ohms scale when I did this... and put the leads on the two outputs of one of the pickups. You should be able to hold the test leads on chopstick style with one hand if you don't have clips on the ends. With your free hand, take one of the bolts that was holding the inspection cover on and bring it up to the pickup, then pull it away quickly. You should see the resistance reading change rapidly then return to it's initial value. If it does, your pickup is good, so you're back to the CDI theory. If it doesn't, you've found your fault.
