Anyone know of any good insurance company to insure the GS500 in IL.

I use Progressive in NY, just because they insure my cars.  A year of minimum liability is less than $100.  As to your question, I don't know if they're necessarily "good" because I've never crashed [into anything].

Myself and a couple of riding buddies here use Progressive. Mine's fairly cheap considering my age and many tickets.

Progressive was the cheapest for me. The Total was $67.00 w/ Roadside Assistance. It first quoted me $100. When I entered my VIN during the online purchase, it dropped to $67.   :)

I Got 50k/100k/25k Injury and Property Liability. I did not want to take the risk of being sued, if anything was to happen.

I got Comprehensive with a $250 deductible, to cover any damage that's not the result of a collision (Theft, Vandalism, Weather, Fire etc...)

I didn't get Collision as I figured the other persons insurance would cover my damage if the accident was their fault. If it was my fault, then I deserve to pay for the damage to my bike.       I'll most likely add Collision later, as it only added about $70/yr to the cost.

I didn't get Uninsured Motorist, as it only covers Medical. I didn't see the need to pay twice, as my My health insurance should cover me.

It also included a $1000 of accessory coverage for free, and Roadside assistance for the bike was only $8 for the year.

Anyway, it was cheaper than I thought it was going to be.    My friend quoted the same coverage on his R1 and it was likse $400  :o

I stay away from progressive because they bent me over and dry f***ed me hardcore when I got in an accident with my car under their insurance and they're alot more than my company.  I'm at 320/year full coverage, $250 deductible compared to 425/year w/ $500 deductible.

I have Nationwide Insurance.

My bike is still fiananced so I have full coverage on it. I can't remember the plan, but it's the same coverage as I have on my auto. The cost is $250 per year. Which includes AMA membership, roadside assistance, etc.

Just to make you all feel better about how much you pay for insurance.

My insurance statistics.

18 year old male, no accidents, no tickets. 2 years no claims.

ZXR400  £350 ($700) per year for Third Party Fire and Theft (TPFT) - this covers you for damage against another vehicle or if your vehicle is burned or stolen. It doesn't cover accidental damage to your own vehicle.

Now for my new car --- wait for it (drumrole)

£1300 ($2600) per year TPFT. Fiat Punto Sporting 1.4L (yes only 1.4L engine)

I can't afford to pay for fully comp even though my car is worth alot because fully comp is £2300 ($4600). How does your insurance look now? hehehe, the grass is greener on your side of the fence or rather pond! for sure!

Check with FOREMOST. My agent found them to be almost half the price of others for myself compared to Progressive, Geocp, etc.

Gotta shop around... it's different in every state, and for every person and their situation.

I'd try with the same company you have other policys with (if you have other insurance).
Then I'd call places like state farm and allstate.
While you're waiting for them to call you back with a quote, get online quotes from places like progressive, geico, bike-line

Bike-line was cheapest for me when I lived in WI, now I'm with progressive and it's a little cheaper for me in MI
