Title: Swollen gas tank
Post by: ralph13 on October 24, 2007, 10:01:12 AM
This may seem like a weird question, but has anyone noticed that one side of where their knees rest on the bodywork of their gas tank seems swollen as compared to the other? The left side of my GS's tank bodywork doesn't curve inward like on the right (it does, but not as much, I guess). The only problem this causes is the obvious assymetry, and my right knee tends to slide around because of the asymmetry.

I have had to have my gas tank sealed a while back. Do you think this probably happened while that was being performed? :icon_confused:

OTOH I am glad to say my GS is running well and the battery hasn't been a problem again.   :)

Make a cardboard template of the "good" side and compare it to the "bad" side.

No liner I know of would distort the tank that much.

You might be able to take a mallet or baseball bat and reform the shape to normal if it is distorted.

Could be. It looks almost too perfect to be dented though. I'll try and get a pic soon.
