I ordered a replacement front brake lever after someone hit my bike while parked and cracked it off.
I got the part from Ron Ayers, and when I went to switch out the parts, it wouldn't fit! The part is OEM suzuki, but just from looking you can tell the two are different. Looking online, I was able to find two kinds of Suzuki levers for the GS500.
Here are example of the two types:

The one on my bike is the first, but the one on all the schematics I see online is the second. Does anyone know what's up with this???
Thanks in advance for the help.

What year is your GS, from the sound of it you have a different master cylinder
isn't the second one from the newer F model??
I think it looks similar to the brake lever on my 2004 bike
I'm not sure tho :dunno_white:
does your bike have the black rectangle master cylinder? i thought those were pretty much all the same :dunno_white:
I have a 1996 GS500E. The master cylinder is rectangle. Very weird...
the original one looks like the on on the +04 (http://www.ronayers.com/fiche/300_0366/handle_lever/handle_lever.cfm?man=su&groupid=3210&parent=3200)
vs. the 96 (http://www.ronayers.com/fiche/300_0027/handle_lever_1990-1996/handle_lever_1990-1996.cfm?man=su&groupid=3150&parent=3070)
It's a little hard to tell on the fiche, but I think it's not the same as the 04 either, although it's much closer. Either way, I just bit the bullet and bought the lever (again!), so hopefully it will work and that will be that. It's just kind of frustrating to know that the stock parts can vary.
