Title: Stop Thief!
Post by: snapper on August 12, 2003, 03:42:12 AM
Well I had to get up very early this morning to come into work because of some computer worm...  :x  When I went outside low and behold my bike was without its blankie!   :o   Someone stole my freaking cover!  The bike is fine for what I could see (it was 4:45am and very dark).
Whoever took it is an idiot.  I was thinking of buying a new cover because mine was in such bad shape.  Had a good size tear in it and everything.  Why would someone take a cover and leave the bike?  I'm so confused and grateful!  The only thing I am super glad about is I had had the side panels off and I put it back together last night.  I figure if I hadn't of done that then my seat would have been gone too.

So- I am in the market for a new cover.  What brands do you guys have and what size did you buy?

I am glad my shed is almost finished... this is ridiculous!    :bs:

Nelson Rigg Defender 2000.
About $65 here:

At least they stole the old one. Make sure to lock it up to the bike. Makes it much harder to steal. I lock the bike to a ring I shot into the concrete, and I run the cable through the grommets on cover.

Quote from: pantablowhat worm exactly...my computer is acting up.

Check your task manager.. if you see a program called MSBLAST.exe you have been hit.

The symptoms is a continuous reboot (at teh worst)..

http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.blaster.worm.html

use the tool there to remove it (might have to go to safe mode or run with minimal device drivers.

Run teh microsoft patch.

Anyone running XP, Windows2000 Should run this patch.. and check for MSBlast.exe.

I didnt have to worry but I still patched it, I am behind a firewall.

Computer worms...Bike cover thieves...What's this world coming to? Argh!   :x
Glad the bike's intact. I got a msg from our Network Admin first thing this morning about the infamous Worm and had to bullet-proof my PC posthaste.
As far as a new bike cover is concerned, I got a really good deal through RideGear (ridegear.com). My cover was only $20.95. I ordered it in Feb. of this year. I got a Large. It fits the GS perfectly. Price is still only $20.95.  :thumb:
